If you run a few domains then I guess you are fine, and they respond to you (eventually) But if you expect to grow your domains, then watch out for the shutdown... After 20 domains, 24 db...got this notice. Your account has been restricted! (I can not even run backups) I seem to be able to do stuff with stuff I already have, but no way in hell are they letting me add new stuff.... I sent them a ticket like 3 days ago, no response to date... As a business they could have went about this a different way and said something like "you are using too many resources, why not try our vps" not even that! Such poor customer service.... I am the captain of my ship, so if this is the way they want to run their business, then I have just two words, Abandon Ship! HostGator = Epic Fail!
I guess you are using shared hosting. That's what I like about Hostgator. They maintain their servers...so that other users are not affected.
I won't use HG due to their poor customer service. I when canceled a hosting plain years ago they sent me a copy paste email saying something like "we are sad to see you go we will give you a free trinket if you come back". So I replied that their "customer service sucks and I only get copy paste responses that do not match my inquires" I got a copy paste email back on how to save money opening another hosting plain.
Yeah.. Ever since they were bought by EIG, things went south pretty fast. Go with a reputable, non-EIG host and you'll be fine
Yea, I think i sorta acknowledged that... So what is your point? If you want to run a business and not work with your clients to make things better; rather then just ignoring them; hey good for you.... They killed my FTP access last night... Wow what a server drain that is.... They can keep their kiddie hosting clients.... HostGator's motto: "We reply when we can, if we ever do...." and we do not work with our clients or even provide solutions" (so other clients will not be affected.) HA! They are who they are.... HostGator
I LOVE HOSTGATOR and have been with them for 3 years Joseph, Snappy has good news for you! We want to reward you for being such a loyal customer. We are going to upgrade your VPS resources at no additional cost! The details of the change are below, but please note this change does not require a server move, there will be no disruption to your site. We are simply increasing your resource allowances on the server you are currently on. Again, there is NO change in price; this free upgrade requires no action on your part. We will be proactively upgrading your server. This upgrade is not requiring a change in hardware. We are not migrating you. This is purely an upgrade in your allowed resources on existing server. Here are a few FAQs: Will it change my IPs? Nope, everything stays the same. Will it require a reboot of my server? Nope, your site will stay up and running throughout the upgrade. Will this upgrade extend my contract term? Nope, your renewal date will not change at all. When is this happening? Your server will be upgraded within 24 hours of receiving this email, in some cases the upgrade may already be complete. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thanks again for your business! Sincerely, The HostGator.com Team
about two weeks ago, my sites were down about 5 times in one week, and yet I could access access the rest of the world, when I asked them about it.."We dont know" (maybe the monitor service was lying; maybe when they showed offline to me (maybe it was just in my head) 2+2 = 4 2 hours out of 3 years would be great, if it were true... But when hosts upgrade, route main, reboots.... (2 hours out of 3 years seems like fantasy for such a huge hosting provider) and I have heard the stories, one person will say, they have never had any issues, and another may say, nothing but problems.... and I can forgive some downtime, that is to be expected, and realistic; however, limiting my account with no communication is not that forgivable... (that is just bad customer service)
yeah, it was in your head bro, Good luck honestly finding a new company for the same price with live support, etc. I think you are acting like how I used to 12 years ago, when I was frustrated and new to the online world. I mean, for example, YOU bought a SET of resources from them, ultimately a "block" on a server.... It was kinda your job to monitor your traffic, your server resources etc. I mean sure, you can head over to Rackspace etc.......go ahead, get the wallet ready But I would have just upgraded and moved on with my business, Time is money, you will learn that
sure buddy, your ego is the same as hostgator... What live support? You mean the one that says your next in about 30+ minutes....? (and zero support so far on support tickets) Not sure sure how price comp got added; I guess you are just babbling now.... I have no problem paying a bit more; providing I do not have to babysit the host and wonder if my sites are going to be up from one hour to the next.... and if hostgator works for you, then great...... I think you are the one acting childish with babbling comments.... All I wanted from my host is to show adult behavior..... BTW, my resource usage is like 1% (seriously?) I do see huge spikes from time to time, but I guess I am 100% responsible, and hostgator has no intent or interest on finding out why.... (If that is the way they roll, not a problem....) I signed up for hostgator by reading some good reviews; apparently I did not look hard enough for the bad reviews.... (they are there)
I have heard that dreamhost is good, but it goes both ways too, I have heard good and bad. I have heard nothing but good for knownhost.com - but they are going to cost a little more, and they offer 24/7 support, and their response time is fairly quick also, and according to dreamhost, they say up to 24hr response time, that really depends on how many tickets are ahead of you, and with their low cost VPS, then you probably can expect them to be loaded down also on the server and support tickets. DreamHost has unlimited this and that, vps for $15/mo (managed) of course you can upgrade your plan with just a click of a button (so they say) and that is what concerns me; you get what you pay for....If you use knownhost coupon, then you can get vps-2 for $35/mo....
Yeah ..........DREAM HOST OWNED by the same company as HOSTGATOR........ ( GOD DAM, I promised myself I would not post in this thread again ) BUT YES ! Really not interested in flighting.... Did not see DreamHost on your EIG list.... I have to admit; I do not change hosts as fast as some people change underwear, but what is your fascination with EIG; seems like you are pissed off or jealous because they are some big hosting conglomerate. Sorry, i do not not subscribe to hosting news....
At the end of the article (which is on dreamhost) it clearly says that it was hoax. Bad decision making if you ask me to pull a hoax that implies that you are EIG owned. People seem to dislike EIG, so why would a hosting provider provide themselves with bad press? If it is a hoax, then they should remove the article, very inappropriate to say the least....
