Hello, I'm about setting up a new server for hosting offers in Germany and well, very important is the admin back-end for the beginning because everything is based on such. My hosting provider provides Plesk to be directly installed with the server and the other opportunity would be Froxlor but self-installed. I gonna use it for Webhosting with PHP5.5 (and probably 5.4), nginx (or apache2.4?) and all other default stuff. Does anybody of you got experience with one of these systems? Which would you recommended. Thanks for your answer.
I know but which would you recommend? I mean webadmin is almost same featured as Plesk but Plesk looks a bit nicer so this would probably making me decide on Plesk as I'd get Plesk for free.
I would recommend to go with cpanel. If you do not have economy problem , you can go with plesk. Free hosting panels are not secure and support is not good enough.
WHM/cPanel is the only way to go, it is more secure and will save you tons on support as your customers will have fewer problems. There's a reason why the major hosting companies buy tens of thousands of licenses in their fight to sell the cheapest hosting.
plesk is not free ( after a few domains) web min is better, because you can really customize a few things, which you can't really get in other panels. like database super caching. that can make your sites 10 times faster than normal sites, i get 0.0023 second load times on my websites.
Regarding the cost o Plesk, as I said money for licenses isn't a big problem. You think this what I can configure in webmin is that important that I should switch to it?
IF you want super speed sites and if your site will be wordpress based, then yes , otherwise its best that you stick with cpanel, it will be the lowest headache for you to deal with. and you can concentrate on the site, and not on managing the hosting.
Well, I'm about hosting a forum connected to a gameserver as a kind of unit. Webmin is useless for this, I just tried out.
then cpanel would be better for you i guess vps with 1 gb ram and 4000 gb bandwidth would cost around 20$ a month with first month free. ( including cpanel)
I got already got a server with 8GB of RAM, 100GB Storage and unlimited traffic. Several licenses for controlling and admin-back-ends are included such as Plesk or whm/cpanel.
I recommend: Plesk cPanel In working in this industry for more than a decade, I can tell you that all other panels have problems. Free panels often don't have the necessary quality checks in place to assure few issues when you upgrade. Also, many free panels have small development teams which means that responding to security threats can be slow. If you want flexible PHP deployment, then use cPanel as it supports far more tuning than does Plesk. You can find many 3rd parties that will license cPanel. Just verify with cPanel that they are an authorized dealer. http://www.instantcpanellicense.com/ is backed by Hostdime which is reputable. Also http://www.cplicensing.net/pricing/ is another authorized partner.
I've never heard of Froxlor. Is that a local German company that produces that control panel? I guess there are not too many Germans that frequent these forums into web hosting to share...? Thanks
