I wanna get in Wikipedia, delicious, technorati and URL visibility?

    Hi guys
I have some SEO-Related questions (all to do with the site in my sig):

    1. I want to get at least one link to my site in wikipedia. What do they consider spamming/not spamming, is it easy and how should I do it (without being labelled as a spammer)?

    2. What exactly are del.ici.ous and technorati? Are they just for blogs? Is it easy to get your site in them?

    3. What ways are there to easily increase "URL visibilty"?

    Thanks a lot
    Dominic

PS I know some of these questions are a bit "newbie-ish" but I might as well ask experienced webmasters! :D

    1) Just try putting yours in the link area. I've done it for all of my sites.

    2) del.ici.ous is a social bookmarking service, for all genres of sites really. Technorati is more for blogs.

    3) I'll wait for others to answer this one.

    Hope that somewhat helped,
    Daniel

Well, the only way to get a link in wikipedia is to have decent information on a relevant subject. Your site needs some work in that area. Your domain name suggests something to do with insomnia, but your content is hardly related to that at all. If you were to give (say 10) useful tips on how to deal with insomnia, that are actually based on research in that area, you might stand a chance of getting a link on some insomnia-related wikipedia article.
It is generally easier to get a link from a more specialized wikipedia article then from a general one. I'd think that insomnia is a fairly crowded subject (though you should do research on that, I haven't and am not going to do your work for you) - so some subtopic might work. For instance there might be a wikipedia article on research on how to deal with it. Your 'tips' article might well be linked from there. Of course you'd have to put it up - but if there isn't too much competition (again: you do the research) - the link might actually stay up, instead of being seen as spam.

As for delicio: just get yourself an account and add your favorite links, including other links on insomnia (yes: your competition). Then add your own site - or what you consider your favorite pages from your site.

Youv'e been playing with SEOMOZ's page strength tool haven't you, delicious listings won't do you much good as they use no follow, if you have a blog, register it with technorati and then link to your website from your blog, this will get you technorati links and it is pretty much impossible to get into wikipedia unless you are famous or something.

I wrote an article on there about Google custom search and tried linking it back to my site they kept the article but they took away my link (Gits), I got one of my clients in once but that was a Church website, all other attempts have failed miserabbly!

What did you do to get a Wiki link?

I have several links in the links section of pages on Wikipedia. They have remained there for some time because they add to the information the page presents. If you try to slip in a link that is spammy someone will eventually catch it and drop it. An example of a link that has remained for me is on the Johnny Mercer Wiki page. I have a page on my site that has a picture of his grave and info from his tombstone. That is something that doesn't fit well into the Wiki page but the link to that info has some value. Do I get lots of traffic and clicks from that? NO. But I do get some inbound links from other sites that copy Wikipedia and others that find my links and think they have value. I have not made much money from Wikipedia traffic but I do value any link I can get, and I think it has caused me to get more links.
The answer to getting links from Wikipedia is to create or link to your pages that have unique value and are very on target.

In wiki Posting links on the main topic itself will invite a speedy deletion.

If you create an interesting page on some topic...you can post links to your own site (if relevant).

Another way of getting into wikipedia is to post your site link, and info about your site, on the talk page of a relevant topic. If a discussion evolves around that post then its even better:)

LOL In the larger Wikipedia articles, yes it's difficult to keep your website from getting edited out, but it's easy to get listed in a small niche wikipedia article.

Yeah, what's difficult to get is your own wikipedia article on your specific site. That's really only for the big few (websites, that is). But niche articles are reasonably easy to get (and keep) links on, if your site has really applicable related content.

1.) you must be a member of wikipedia, edit some articles, and put your link in wikipedia.

2.) del.icio.us is one of the famous bookmarking sites, technorati is for blogs.

3.) Take a research on that.
