Though technically I feel XP is best and more than enough for my needs, I am strongly tempted to have Vista running on my PC when its available to consumers Would you be upgrading your OS to Vista?
technically deep inside 2000/xp/vista are all same,i am not willing to sacrifice half my systems' resources just for some eye candy.
The core of vista is different from what I have read. I will be switching my laptop to it as soon as I get it in my MSDN subscription. I will leave my 2 workstations in case I need to fall back to XP for some applications. I know Visual Studio 2003 wont run on Vista.
Yeah it uses a completely recoded core, a new HAL, new plug and play features, however it still sucks boobies, so I'll be stickin with what I got.....
From what I have seen with the releases, the beta version are usually not as good as the comsumer release. Take IE7 for example...
Well whoever is planning to switch on to vista , lemme tell ya it chews more than 700 MB of ram making your pc a damn slow experience , its highly recommended to upgrade your ram to 2 gb before upgrading to Vista.
The last beta I ran on this machine, RC1 ( 3.5ghz (oc/d) Dual Core P4, 2GB DDR2800 RAM, RAID1 ), it was worse than windows 98 starting up, its pooh.......
I wouldn't switch yet. If you really want to switch I'd wait a year. There are always bugs with new releases. Within a year these should be fixed and patches will be out to fix them. Now if your system is running great and there really is no need to switch - don't. There's no point in switching for eye candy as was already mentioned. Skinny
Exactly my thoughts. With Microsoft, you got to let them work out all of the kinks before you upgrade to anything new. Probably by the summer we'll hear a big announcement that VISTA has comprised millions of computers worldwide.
XP works for what I want to do, so I won't be bothering to upgrade. If it was free to do so then I'd consider it just for the hell of upgrading but not when it's probably going to run into over £100. Although to be honest I use OS X and Linux most of the time anyway.
I dont feel comfortable switching to new windows but i guess we all have to switch to it someday like no one use 98 or 2000 right now I still do use 98 I have some programms that wont run on XP
I don’t intend to switch to VISTA on my home PCs until I need to buy a new version of Windows and that’s all I can buy. By that point they should hopefully have some of the burrs filed off, reduce the bugs and security holes, and be selling the OS with it’s first service pack already installed.
I'm getting a new laptop soonish, so what i think i'll do is i'll get it with vista, and see if its any different. Then ill decide whether or not to upgrade on my pc
I will not be upgrading to vista. I am happy with my current OS. If I am getting a new station then I may upgrade to vista with that.
Yes definitely!... well, actually I am now using a Vista and i really like it.. The skins and format and the accessibility of this new OS, is doing well...
