try to type it in this way : xxx.xxxxxxx

    in the three first xxx

you must enter your country code

    and after the point

you must type your number without dashes

    Good Luck!

My clients usually open a support ticket when they have issues with domains. Have you tried contacting your hosting support?

The country code for england is +44 so an example number will be +44 1234 567891

Of course contacting the actual provider will be the best option for you, as they are the ones
who know how their order system works.

In my experience tho, with most providers, should be country code and number, without any extra
symbols. Like for the UK example - 441234567890. But then again, they should've made the process a little easier - for example displaying an error message with the exact location of the error (i.e. "You cannot use dashes in Phone Number") :)

Make sure the host has the payment option your looking for. I don't even think twice about a host that doesn't accept paypal.

If you do not trust their support to help you signup, then why would you join them?

If you are buying your domains from your hosting you are paying too much, furthermore it's a very bad idea to buy domains and hosting at the same place.

This is a time when you should not question reaching out to your hosting provider's support team. Support is at the top of list when it comes o choosing a web host. Live chat is a very common feature that most providers offer now. It makes it easy to jump on and get the service and answers fast. Look for providers that have 24/7/365 support services with live chat and phone options. When you hit a road block you will need this level of support.

I'd generally disagree with that. Apart from the cheaper price of the domain registrars, what are the other big benefits of having domains and hosting separate?

Because if you are referring to shady hosting providers making gimmicks with the clients domains if they want to leave, such sporadic occurrences can happen with anyone and there are domain providers with pretty well-known scams too.

Having the pleasure of being part of the Sales Team for a few hosting providers and speaking with many, many prospects as part of my job, my impression is that most people prefer exactly the opposite from what you suggest. Having domains and hosting in one place makes it pretty easier for them, having everything neat and tidy in one place, keeping an eye on all renewals and getting notifications from one and the same trusted provider. Otherwise there are countless cases when:

    - customer not sure where their domain is, for DNS change purposes
    - customer forgetting their login details for their domain panel (as they have soooo many regs in different places and, as we know, having the same password in all places is just begging for a security breach)
    - customer getting a "strange email" from a scam company, alerting them to renew their domain fast and falling for the scam, scared of losing their name
    - customer with a domain panel, which doesn't have basic functions like Unlock domain or Request EPP. They have to contact their current provider for them and losing days and days with slow responses or uncooperative staff

The list can go on some more. The examples are all from real cases and all have been repetitive issues. So to summarize, cheap price is still indeed a main motivator for certain services, but being a person of comparative nature I do see more pro's than con's of using the same company for domains and hosting...given they have won your trust for at least one of the services :)
