I'm pretty sure I have something nasty on my computer, it tends to freeze for short periods randomly and recently I started noticing adsense ads in places where they shouldn't be! When I check the source code of the page I don't see the ad there, but it shows up on the page. I'm seeing it on both firefox and chrome, so I doubt it has to do with any plugins. Tried scanning with spybot and malwarebytes and avast, but they didn't find anything. Any ideas?
I use this to clean files and stuff http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner also use this http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html Try those, if that doesn't work, download this free trial http://www.bullguard.com/downloads.aspx Between those three ( some have multiple tools ) You should be good, Mac or PC Love your buddy Joseph
Try this. It works for me. Have been using this for the last 4-5 years. Download the free anti-virus software from Avira: http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus If you're using a Mac computer they have it free for Mac computers too: http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-free-mac-security Download and install everything it asks you to. It may ask you to update to the latest version, do that too. Run the full scan. It may take 1-2 hours, but it's worth it. It will detect all spy-ware you may have on your computer. After deleting any/all malicious software with Avira, run CCleaner to get rid of all the files that otherwise are just sitting there for no reason, clogging your computer's memory. You can download CCleaner here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard Works for me.
It sound like there is an issue windows registry. Because you are saying the pc gets frozen with no apparent reason. If this is the case, you can fix it by reinstalling windows. or install linux.
Me too. Once my computer has been compromised I don't really trust it, even after "cleaning" the malware... these things have gotten incredibly sneaky and can hide very well nowadays. I just do a clean reinstall to be safe.
I've always get everything cleaned up with Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes and Ccleaner. Spywareblaster is also a great tool to fight against spyware. If nothing helps then format everything and reinstall windows (works every time for sure ).
The OP is rude. I mean, everyone has posted something to his/her post, but he/she just doesn't give a flying crap about it... I cleaned up my step-son's computer with what I have suggested. He TOO had weird ads showing up randomly on all kinds of pages. His computer used to freeze up too. It's all gone now. Those of you who are suggesting to re-install Windows are forgetting that, on some computers, you can only do this no more than one time. After re-installing Windows the first time, you will forever get stuck with what you've got. No re-installation option will be offered again (you will only be able to restore your computer to an earlier time). I believe the re-installation option should be used in extreme cases only. By the way, if I were you, and, if I didn't want to clean up my computer with any anti-virus software, I'd simply restore my computer to an earlier time, instead. It's simple and it works. And, NO, those bugs will not come back to haunt you, but you have to restore it to the time before you got the virus. Don't be rude. Say something.
I was also having the same problem with my adsense ads. There were ads showing on my webpage but now everything seems fine as i have restored my system.
