Help with Google Malware Block (Madads)

Discussion in 'Google' started by Okuma Steve, Feb 8, 2014.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

My site is currently being blocked by google with the reason being "The Website Ahead Contains Malware!"

Apparently sometime this morning an ad from madads was flagged as malicious. I removed the madads code and the warnings from google in chrome went away for a few minutes, but now I get greeted with the message I posted above.

In my webmaster tools it lists the suspicious snippets as the links to madads. As I said before I removed them, then I tried to request a review in my webmaster tools but when I submit it I get: "Your request can't be processed at this time because your site isn't currently flagged for malware. If you see a malware warning in your browser, it is likely a cross-site warning."

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can proceed with getting unblocked by google? Apparently the same thing is happening to other folks who use madads, I've located two others in the same boat in google's product forums.

I requested a review from stopbadware.org already but haven't heard back yet.

Same issue this morning. MadAds as well.
I removed all MadAds code, and have been trying through Webmaster Tools to submit for a review - but have the same....

"Your request can't be processed at this time because your site isn't currently flagged for malware. If you see a malware warning in your browser, it is likely a cross-site warning."

as you... So they are certainly quick to flag it and ruin your ranking, reputation and traffic, but not so much to resolve it. Oh well... I guess nothing can be done about it at the moment as Google has absolute 0 support.

I still can't hoping it resolved itself or lets me soon. This is pretty ridiculous.

Honestly I'm not that upset with MadAds, I'm much more upset with Google. Pretty much any network I've used that utilizes remnant partners occasionally has something like this get through, but in the past I've been able to remove the ad code and go back to normal until the ad provider fixes the issue, but not this time thanks to Google.

Good point Steve.. What really pisses me off about this is Google is damaging the reputation of my site via libel basically

How is it fair the message says

"Content from site.com, a known malware distributor, has been inserted into this web page."
    ^ false statement....

"Malware is malicious software that causes things like identity theft, financial loss, and permanent file deletion."

in fact I didn't distribute any malware, the stupid ad network did which I don't control. And they make it seem like my site is some sort of criminal organization. terrible job, Google. I am sure this will have major financial impact to many sites, and I would think some people would want to file a lawsuit over it if they lost enough money / business due to the invalid warning

also pisses me off when you to to the option in Google to request a review it says

"Your request can't be processed at this time because your site isn't currently flagged for malware."

^ if it's not serving malware, why Google, do you make my site out to look like some criminal organization w/ the malware warning?

    unbelievable

100% agree, it seems like they could use some less damning language that didn't make our sites look like long-established smut peddlers. I can guarantee that anyone who visited our sites today for the first time probably won't be returning.

And every time I see that drawing of a criminal reaching through the laptop screen trying to steal my identity I want to punch a hole through the monitor.

    100% agree

I work in IT Security and I can also say that Google is trying to automate a process which can't accurately be automated - detecting malware on websites. I used to work for Microsoft in online services / Bing - Security team. I cannot tell you how many ridiculous false positives some of their automated malware ads detection caused.. but at least unlike Google they don't send these ridiculous damaging lies in popups.

There will always be false positives with this. So if there are going to be false positives, Google should change that damaging wording! what would be long term visitors are probably never coming back to my site due to the lies from Google

Has anyone successfully been removed yet? I submitted my request for review 7 hours ago and still nothing. It's scary to see the power Google has over us.

i finally was allowed to submit the request to google and still waiting

i 100% agree regarding the power they have over this...
what is really scary is if they wanted to, they could do this just to cause adsense-competing ad networks to fail! even if there was never actually any malware involved ( when i hear the word malware i need to see the binary involved.. show me logs of where it was hosted, the exact .exe file, etc)

1: Your hosting company should do a better job...
2: Google should penalize hosting companies for not...

and I assure, if one big shot host got penalized for a few days
for nothing taking care of business, then they would get on the ball.
and if it is just a low scum host, then drop'em out, who cares, they deserve it.

How can any of this be blamed on a host?

Seriously? They are obligated to take care of their clients...
If they do not give a rats %$#@ then they should be penalized...

It seems like you haven't even read the thread. No one mentioned a host, much less said they don't give a rat's ass.

The host doesn't put that up, it's built into people's browsers.

Ok, I will spell it out...

    1: Client get host
    2: Client set-up malware site.
    3: People download.
    4: People get infected.
5: google should derank them all....
(then fewer people will get to their sites.)
