Who knows, that may occur over an extended period and they just updated their site statistics. Anyway, really do not find much usage in DMOZ now.

DMOZ is still around? Who even pays for the hosting?

Has anyone in the last 5 years used it to find a website rather than use Google?

Kind of funny just the other week someone was trying to tell me "is still easily the fastest growing directory on the web"

Based on the same source I quoted above re the loss of a million, they were added >20 000 sites a month previously.

and that is what happens when you fail to keep up with technology....
The moment DSL hit the market way back then, I dumped AOL on
the spot, as I was not going to continue to pay $24.95/mo for pretty graphics.

I agree. I have done a lot of research and only come across a listing in Google with DMOZ in it ONCE. I am online almost all day doing work and never had to use them for anything. There is nothing useful that I would need, and they have a TON of sites on there.

If you want to show up in AOL search results, DMOZ is the only way to go. That's only about 3 million subscribers. Main purpose is doesn't DMOZ still boost your page rank?
