Many people now a days are saying that SEO is no longer effective and I am totally confused as I started to learn SEO few weeks ago. If anybody out there could help me out with clear views. Thanking you all for help
There is lot's of point of view of this question. But if you are looking good position in search engines, So you have to focus on thematic linking. You can do anything to promote your website SEO, SMO etc. But choose right category and correct product description. And don't do lot's of work in single day. It will helpful to get the better rank on search engines.
As @Esppress Car Wash said that you should focus on themantic link building but i don't think that's a good idea because it includes building back links according to the domains i.e. Business domains like you have a technology related website than you will build links from technology site but in this link exchange takes place and i don't think link exchanges is preferable by Google these days, i would rather tell you to concentrate on the SMO activities it is an instant source of the traffic and as far as ranking is concerned for the time i would say you need to divert your mind across the content most and rest can be kept towards forums, yahoo answer, you can also look forward in posting article over your blog (if you have any) but do remember don't spam there !! SEO is not dead but SEO is more simplified now previously what all the SEO experts are doing they are submitting articles in a bulk in which most of the keywords are repeated, article submission is not about quality but its about forcing the search engine to ranked. So what Google does now is cut out all the the mechanical thing and now what you are seeing in google is more refined i.e. in terms of quality so what you are now getting is more refined results !!
Well, It depend on HOW Your are doing it! But, SEO is the only way to get to the top.... There is no other Legit way! I fully agree with the john but my concern is that if you targeted on specific keywords then how could you exact target those keywords in SMO. At that time you good to go with SEO but always follow up google guidelines. SMO too needs for getting traffic and brandig. You should be continuously upgrade your knowledge in terms of SEO or SMO.
