HI, how many of you are having your own server for your website. Well can you let us know how much approx it cost onetime for hardware and softwares and net connection etc mothly.. i have all my sites running on shared hosting plans of webhosting providers. thnx
Really? I think getting a dedicated server is best idea if you're planning to have own website on a server as you dont have to do anything more than filling up their pockets with huge $$$
no one has answered the question correctly. the guy is looking to host stuff on his own server not one rented from a host company. My friend has a co-located server. Basically you build your own and rent a slot in a datacenter nearby. The machine cost him about $3500 and the datacenter fees are about $400 per month. I'm not sure what his bandwidth is but i got a feeling its pretty massive.
I have one dedicated server and it cost me 89 usd monthly.... I suggets you to visit a forum of server and hosting users...were you can get quotes....(i dont remember actualy the name lol)
Nope,I use the baby package on hostgator! Thanks,I changed it a few hours ago EDIT:Why do people get a own server but not dedicated server? What are the differences between them? Dedicated servers are easier to control IMHO.
Own servers are more secure than dedicated one but dedicated servers are tension free... and cheap aswell
^^That's nonsense, "Own Servers" don't actually exist, you're options are as follows VPS - Virtual Private Servers Virtualization software splits a machines hardware resources equally between X amount of virtual machines, limits are adjustable and each virtual machine is the same as having your own Dedicated platform in that you have full controll / root access to it's console. Dedi - Dedicated Server Platforms The is an entire machine just for you, available from as little as $50 with no control panel software and unmanaged service. Some examples would be : For a Low end AMD / Celeron with 80GB hdd, 512-1024mb of ram and cpanel on a 10mbps connection you could get for around $90 unmanaged. For a middle of the range Dual Core p4 machine with a gig of ram ( rarely lower for dual core machines ) and 160GB hdd ( to reflect the power, most providers do this ), that would cost around $120 a month For a top of the range Dual Core / Processor Opteron 2GB of ram ( to reflect the power, most providers do this ) and cpanel should cost around $250 - $300 per month. Generally VPS environments suck, so don't bother, and if youre just lookng to use it for personal use, then save your self a load of money and don't bother with cpanel, it doesn't do anything that linux cant do by default. Good luck
