Hi - This is a shot in the dark. I am switching my blog from blogger to wordpress. It is 4 years old and has over 5000 posts that all contain embedded mp3s and videos. The old posts do not look great once imported to wordpress and I lose all my embeds. Is there a way to archive a blog so that when someone clicks on an old post it looks like the old site, and when they click on a new post it looks like the new site? Is this possible? Any help or advice is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you, Katie
Hey @ktafro ! Once you have imported your content from Blogger to WordPress - the next thing would be to set up a Redirection Code - so people going to your old blogspot blog site will be redirected to your new WordPress Blog. Here is how to do it: 1 - Get Redirection Script Code Here http://arunmvishnu.com/get-redirection-script – Fill out the simple form with your information & click on ‘Generate New Code’. 2 - Select the entire Script Code – then right click & ‘Copy’. 3 - Go to your .blogspot.com blog dashboard then go to Templates – scroll all the way down & click on ‘Revert to classic template’. 4 - Scroll down to ‘Edit Template HTML’ – select the entire code that is in it & then right-click & ‘Paste’ the new script code. If you haven't done this yet - then this is how to do it. If you would like to read the entire tutorial, here it is; http://theblogger.secrettips.org/how-to-switch-from-blogger-to-wordpress/ As far as what you are looking to do here - I'm sorry to tell you that it will be very hard to find a solution for what you want to do. Since Blogger is totally different from WordPress then any Embed Coding might not look the same and might not even work when you do the switch. So you are going to have to edit each post manually. I know it will be a nightmare since you said you have over 5,000 posts! ... but you gotta do what you gotta do man! If it was me, I would leave those posts alone and just move forward. If you already published 5k posts then that means you can do it again. Your best solution would be to think this way. Hope this helps! I wish you the best success online!! Cheers!
