Hi Folks, I need to create a server which supports/can host vedios streaming sites? I think CentOS will be a better choice. What is the minimum harware requirement for this? What software module should be need for this? Please help ?
Hardware is not going to be terribly important for this, as streaming files isn't really hardware intensive. What's going to be the most important is bandwidth, as video streaming uses tons. CentOS will work just fine for what you are trying to do.
Thanks for your information. I am in test mode so I would like know what is the minimum hardware requirement. Is it possible to make this working with 512GB ram? Also what CPU speed is required and what software modules (like FFMPEG, tools like FLV..etc) need to be installed on the server? I believe ClipBucket is a fully functional managing software, if possible please list any other opensoure softwares that can be used(I mean license free) as an alternate.
512 GB really??? may be 512 mb.... clipbucket is good open source script requires ffmpeg, flv tool2, mp4box with php 5.3
OOPS.. that was a TYPO error, it is really what you guess 512MB. Let me know about any license free softwares. 512MB is really enough to get this working?
Clipbucket is fully free but i think 512 mb is not enough if u want to convert videos as it takes more time to convert videos. the basic tools to install ffmepg (0.6.5 is min) to work better install the latest ffmpeg or ffmpeg 0.9.1 plus flvtool2 mp4box flvtool++ (optional). but clipbucket requires php 5.3
Thank you very much I believe 1G is enough as this is still under the test mode. Let me know your thoughts.
if u r just testing better bought arvixe shared hosting for 1 month than get your own server once you ready. i also got arvixe shared hosting when they're 50% lifetime discount for 1gb yes it'll be good for testing
