Hello guys! I need some advice here, so i would really appreciate it if you could help me out. I am looking to have an indoor house party (50-100 people) and i am looking to buy a speaker system so that i can play music with. All i know from my knowledge is that i should buy speakers and an amplifier and that would be enough for me to play music. However, i am not really sure about that and i would like your advice. I have a budget of 100-150gbp, so i would really appreciate it if you could give me a link or just tell me some recommendations of what system to buy. A system i have in mind of buying is: http://www.hifi-tower.co.uk/DJ-PA-System-DJ-14-PA-Amplifier-and-Speaker-Set-1000W_i4824.htm Looking for your recommendations. Thank you!
You could also just rent it. You can spend 150gbp buying it and then some idiot spells a drink on the amp. and poof it's gone.
I was in audio for years - car and home - Alpine, Blaupunkt, Sony, JBL, Mark Levinson, Krell .... I only recognize a few of the brands on that site. JBL has some nice reasonably priced systems. Trust me, you won't need 1000 watts! In a good sized room with 100 people, you will be lucky to use 100 watts per channel.
Hello GORF, thank you for your reply. I understand what you are saying, but do you know if the speaker system i quoted in my first post a good system for a party? Thank you.
It should be fine for your needs. - Don't overdrive the inputs. Lower the volume of the source device a bit and turn up the output of the amp a bit more. This will keep the sound cleaner by avoiding clipping allowing you to deliver it as loud as needed. - Don't use an extension cord for AC power. If you must, make sure it is heavy. You could draw up to 500 watts from the AC mains. This is only a 100 watt RMS per channel amp, so you should be OK. (RMS is the only true rating!) - If you are doing announcements over a microphone, you may want to get a small simple mixer.
Thank you so much. If you have any other speaker system to recommend please dont hesitate! Thank you again!
Oh, I could reccommend some things, but that would land in the $300,000 range for home theater systems! LOL!
