    Quick question,

I'm worried my customers can't post and use full use of the comments box enough on my site,

So i have created a must log in to post a comment which is not working to well,

Do many of you guys leave it open to anybody can post a comment?

If i remove the must register option, does the
    Akismet feature work well enough

thanks in advance for your help

@Carl Mason : yes you can leave it to any body can post comment. make a change that a comment must be approved before appearing.

and yes akismet works well enough. I am using the same setting on my blog www.rareinput.com sincle 2013

I leave my comments open ( no register ) and then just select "admin must approve all comments" that and askimet works fine ;)

My opinion is a bit different here.
I did use Askimet. However, I still prefer to use a user must log in to post. This is to get rid the majority spammers from posting despite having Askimet.

What benefits did you get by having 99% spammer's comment with no meaning at all or irrelevant to your blog content. I do not want such commenting from spammers. Unique visitors are mostly welcome through Search spiders.

You have that right to your opinion, BUT When you make people register / log in, you will get way less comments

99% of spammers get caught in Askimet period ;)

I would also say to leave the comments open to anyone.

And also make sure you are also using the "comments must be approved" option.

Spam comments will always come and they will come in a HUGE amount daily. But that is why you are using Askimet.
