Very recently Yahoo! Announced their new advertising solution to the world. What impact do you think this will have on Yahoo! and on advertising in general.
Obviously Yahoo! isn't google, and they'd have to try much harder to compete, but their new solution seems interesting.

It is better for us that Google get a stronger competitor.
    That is good for advertisers.

Nothing like a little healthy competition for Google! But as a poster said above, Google wont care. Google has conquered world domination as far as I'm concerned!;):)

Yahoo has really leveled up. But it still has a long way to go to beat Google.

You are right that yahoo has started their advertising solution but it's not as effective as Google AdSense because the ad's don't blend in with the website's content which is one of the important factors to get a better CTR. They need to go a long way to optimize their advertisement platform.

    Kindest,

Well, it seems like what Yahoo was trying to do with their thing is make a platform that will work well within the framework of their own sites. I'm guessing that making their ads fit in with website content will be the next logical step for Yahoo, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see that update happen sometime soon.
A thing that I find to be interesting is that even though I use many services which should be working with this format of advertising, I haven't noticed it much. I haven't gone deep into analysis as to why but it either means that A) the ads really blend in on the sites they're meant for (which was Yahoo's goal, I guess) or B) these sites aren't using the advertising. :D

I wish yahoo good luck! But i think they are trying to slay the giant. Then again, it does seem that some people do find aspects of google frustrating, so if they can fill a hole, who knows!
