Do AdSense dislike forums?

    Hi guys,

I'm thinking of adding forums to my website but I'm wondering if it might upset Google - I previously had a shout box/live chat on the side of the page that they made me remove.

What's their stance on AdSense? Are they cool with it or should I display different ads on the forum pages?

    Thanks for your help!

google+content is always good and if your forum content is legal means not sharing things that is illegal like game, file sharing etc then your all good to go

As long as it's well moderated you should be fine.

I too would say it's fine and a ran one for the Olympics for a couple of years, that said the CTR was always low no matter what I tried. People find the answers in the posts so don't tend to click on the ads, in the end I shut it down as moderation effort was more than the revenue generated. You need to make it well moderated as someone posting porn/nude pics could get you banned if you don't remove it fast - in the early days of my olympics forum I woke up daily to every category being auto spammed with porn. Hope that helps. Best one I've heard of was a coupon forum site making around $2-300 a day.

$2-300 a day? Nice, I can only hope for some success like that.

    Thanks!

I had few forums back in 2012 and I was using adsense on those forums.. So i don't think there should be an issue.

A shout box is a lot different than a forum. Chat box content is not actually hosted on your site (the app is 3rd party site hosted), so anything posted into the chat box is not only your site or page, it's actually on another site. And, Google demands you have actual content on any page where Adsense is going to be hosted. And, since the chat box content is not on your site, technically there would be no content on that page. That could be one reason they asked you to remove the chat box before. But now that you are going to be using a forum, you should have no problems as all the content created on your forum will actually be hosted on your site and easily accessible by Google so they can display relevant ads.

There is no problem in using Google Adsense with Forums as long as your complying with the same Google Adsense content policies.
