Hello, I'm new here! I'm considering implementing a referral system on my website. The user will then be able to invite friends in exchange for credits on the website. What is Google's point of view on this? Will they class it as spam for some reason? (Referring to the referral links that I will generate on the site and that probably will be coming up on many websites & forums etc) I know people has a hard time to click on links if they look like referral links or ads (including myself). Is there something I can do so that people won't see it as spam or just simply raise my CTR on the links? What kind of experience have you had from referral systems? Kind regards
Thanks for your replies. The website is custom made, no CMS etc. The invitation system will also be coded by us. No we do not have adsense on the site, why do you ask? Basically what we will do is this: 1. The user gets a link for example: www.ourwebsite.com/ref_1134513 2. The users will start posting that link on facebook, forums etc to try to invite people and friends. 3. When someone register on our website through that link, the user will receive free credits in our system (that is then used to rent game servers) (Keep in mind, we are running a website with more than 200,000 registered users and 10,000 active users) So, what I'm asking is when these kind of links gets distrubuted around the internet, will Google see this as spam for some reason? And, is this a good marketing technique?
The answer is as long as those that are sending out the links in a non spam manner it will not be an issue, it is basically an affiliate system. and this is one of the best marketing techniques out there.
