What is Next Step ? [ In Directories Site ]

I have started up with pligg to build up a directory site

Now what is the next step to get it boosted up to get traffic and ppl posting their sites in it ..

Please show me the next steps i need to perform to get started with good earnings from this site...

 

pligg is for social news sites. I don't know how you want to use for directory.......

 

I have seen many social bookmarking sites using pligg.. There is option of adding url in starting when submitting post.. i think it could be a good way, so i used it...
Suggest for better then it..

 

Pligg is for social bookmarking/news sites. SB sites is not the same as web directories. In your first post you said about directory......

 

sorry i am new to the field so do not have clear knowledge, gotcha both are different things...

You have to give people something to pay for.

Why would people pay for a link in your website ? Would you pay for a link if it was not yours ? Have you ever paid for links in directories ? and why did you pay for them ?

 

You of course need to market your service and it will cost. You want ads in Google,Yahoo and Bing.

 

i do not want anyone to pay for posting their urls...
earning is the secondary part ..... its from adsense or anything different ...

 

I think its very costly ... not bad idea but don`t want to spend much much to make money..

 

Your going to get what you put into it.

 

For adsense you need traffic. Why would someone come to your directory ? it has no content only links.

Some might come to submit a link but that's not really the type of traffic that clicks on ads.

so in short i should really drop this project instead of wasting time and energy behind it,

When I looked at your directory, it had like 3 listings. No directory will succeed with just three listings just as no content site would last for long with only 3 pages. Building a directory is more than just getting a domain, installing a script and adding a couple of websites. They need to be constantly seeded (owner/editor adds listings on their own) to get really established. They take time and work to become successful.

 

I don't believe in directory websites. Firstly they do not accept link even after payment. they sucks

 

Sounds like you need to work on your website to improve it.

 

It takes a lot of time and effort to get a website up, running and flowing with traffic.

Give it a go, don't give up straight away.

Let people know you site is live and your accepting free submissions

Due to you only having a couple of links on there, add more yourself to get it going

Through this question i meant that i have made ready with installing script, now what is to be done...

Yes, you need to add more content. Open new account as user and go! Also please fix it outgoing links http://www.sitelisting.org/out/best-android-collection-website/ it shows 500 server error.

 

As a directory owner myself i can tell you you need content other than just listings. I have been working on my new project for about a year now and just launched it and adding new content continuously. Directories now days are only as good as you make them. You fill them with little content and spam links that is just what they are. You put a little work in them and they can bee what you want them to be just like any site and with a little work you can have a good web resource.

As for your next step you need to start adding content, not just links but usefull information for your visitors and do some advertising in your niche. Try to get some links from good related directories. And if you are starting this directory just for adsense revenue it wont last long these days so to make revenue you will need to build a useful resource.
