    Hey Shawn,

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays :)

I have been a member since 2006, and lately, I just read more then post etc, actually for years, I have been reading and never stopped visiting this place because its so awesome.

When I build new websites, new business ventures, I have a routine like most professional people and when that routine works , well I like to stick with it, I am not rich by any means, I have like 6 kids, an ex wife, new wife, 2 crazy cats and neighbors that want me to help them get online ;))

From time to time, things change, sometimes we can help it, sometimes we cannot,

I once heard this saying: "One tree eventually becomes 10,000 match sticks"

That is how I see this forum,

Shawn, you were the TREE that started this all for us "match sticks"

Everyday, Every Thanksgiving, I am very thankful for you and this forum, its changed my life. I was a freeeking plumber 10 years ago...............

NOW - getting to my point:

For the last year, or two years, I have been visiting this thread below:
    ( or the 2012 version )

    https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/2013-godaddy-discount-codes-thread.2617816/page-58

Just the other day, This thread was closed ;(

Now, back to my story.....I loved that thread, " I was used to that thread"

I had that thread bookmarked I came all the time, got excited like everyone else and at 3am, I bought domains on wild ideas I had for $0.99 because some guy in India decided to share his time, his compassion and give me a coupon code .

I would be so excited to tell my friends in the morning "dude.....I for this domain called xxxxxx.xom and for only $0.99"

They would be like, no way....and here is the important sentence "whats that forum called"

Now - I know how it is when your "locked" into that forum mentality as a moderator or a regular "by the minute" user as I used to be, you forget that there are regular people reading the forums, you become into this mindset "he cannot use my website to make money" or "he is just trying to make commissions ) *aren't we all.....

I get it, But in my daily travels for 7 years now, I tell people locally, at business meets to join this place cause it rocks , I never ask for money to promote.....because of these such threads that can save us all money ....

SO in that sense, let a few people make 0.30 cents from posting a few codes, for the rest of us, it saves us huge money, build community and at 3am......it makes me smile knowing that after all the wasted space we call the web, I can roost home to DP and get some smiles from people like me all over the world , who want to share information,

Thanks for listening, I love this place and think threads like that build community , build spirit and most of all build the dream for so many of us,

Oh and of course, I know many people will be like "those codes are available everywhere on the web"

My answer: I want to come here for that information, just like my machine is a MAC and NOT A PC! LOL

    love and peace always

    Joseph

Just as well, considering you have a DP tattoo.

Regarding the GD thread, I already made a thread in the Feedback forum about this.

Yeah... It's been something I've been mulling over since we made the decision to close it. I never personally used the thread, so I didn't realize how many people actually found it useful (I've heard from a ton since the change, so that's a little more clear now).

I'm not opposed to reversing the decision to close it, but before that happens, I want to think it through and see if there might be a better overall solution somehow. Not sure what that would be, but it's certainly open for discussion if anyone has any ideas...

and godaddy selling .99 domains that get renewed for $10.99 make green profit out of match sticks.

Why not get a bic lighter ? much cheaper and more useful.
