Help!!! My site has the huge bounce rate....

    Hi DP users,
I have created a tech blog 4 months back and at that time I had good bounce rate(somewhere between 55%-60%) Now, in the last 20 days I am seeing a huge bounce rate of 85% and more. I don't know the real reason behind it but it is impacting my SEO. In this 4 months, I was able to grab around 400 unique visitors per day through search engines but after the increase in bounce rate, it has been dropped to just 240-270 unique visitors. Please help me find out what the issue is. To be frank, I have changed the theme of my wordpress site last month. Could that be the reason? I've heard people talking about the impact of themes. (http://ReviewShots.com) is my blog. I believe the theme is looking good and professional still no reason how such a huge bounce rate. I would appreciate any suggestions you provide.

    Thanks,
    Sky

How long are visitors spending on your pages before leaving?

Well, bounce rate increases because visitors visiting your website doesn't find the relevant information they are looking for, I should prefer you to have a look on the back links i think you are just attaching links for the sake of posting (I Guess I am not sure about it, It happen with me most of the time i intend to create backlink and in a hurry i attach my link in a place where it is useless and guess what the next i check analytics and my bounce rate increases !!) So, i am not sure but i guess this may be the reason why you are seeing a significant increase in the bounce rate. :D

What you're experiencing is probably due to the fact that your SEO tags and keywords did not match the content of your website. Search engines have a way of knowing your bounce rate, and if they see that it's very high, the assume people aren't finding what they look for on your website. This moves your website down in search results, hence the drop of visitors from search engines.
My advice would be to write content that fits your SEO better. Don't overuse SEO just for the sake of getting visitors from searches. Content will always be more important.

No. I don't rely on making backlinks. If I have quality content, then I would eventually get the quality backlinks. Thanks though.. I have just 20 backlinks so far. So I don't think its the issue. I do take care lot before adding even a single link somewhere.

Yes. I do rank still on the same place for those keywords. I have a doubt though. Since my site is dedicated to Tech Reviews and SEO(Blogging as well), Should I consider only tech part from now on and don't focus on SEO part? because both these things are different Tech and SEO.

I think I got the answer. I would focus much more on Tech part rather than Blogging and SEO topics on my site..

    Thank You Everyone.... :)

SEO is a heavily saturated topic but if you know what your talking about it is worth blogging about. However, as you said, a blog covering two very different topics can make it a bit hard for people to know what your site is about. The high bounce rate is clearly evidence that people might feel slightly confused. I highly recommend blogging solely about the tech part and building your targeted followers with content relevant to that industry. Good luck!

Another reason of increasing bounce rate may be the look and feel of webpages. If the web pages are not properly navigated, eye-catching and relevant for visitors then bounce rate will be very high.

Though your theme is professional and nice but some times it may also affect traffic if that theme does not relates itself to the content of your site. So theme must be as per the content and site topic. In addition, as above said by many, your content should be of quality and informative. Also don't always try to put and stuff keywords in your content.

From what I read here, it is clear that you have no clue about SEO - so why would you want to write about it?

Probably you don't know that SEO is not completely about Backlinks especially when you have something called "Hummingbird algorithm". Good links may get you higher in the SERPs, but if it's done too much and done on spammy sites, they would end up on the last page of SERPs.. What I know about SEO is good for me because my certain keywords rank on the first page of SERPs... It was the thread about Bounce Rate and should be associated and discussed about it rather than asking "Why would you want to write about it?"

For the guys who have helped me and thought me about reducing the bounce rate. Thanks to everyone of you.

    1. If you use a citation, plese show it complete in it's context to avoid misunderstandings. I wrote:

    2. You should write about themes you really know about, because content and it's quality and therefor "stickiness" (visit duration and returning visitors) have a lot to do with bounce rate.

Just a "funny" pic about bounce rate and SEO.

I have strong recommendation to you to come out from bouncing problem.
    - User Social media profile atleast 8-9 like FB, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, Instagram, Stumbleupon, Reditt etc
    - Create Business Pages, community, Groups, Events
    - 100% use Google Plus, create Google Map listing and Page, Community
    - Create events time to time
    - Engage With people, reply, comment, answer etc.
    - Post unique content to the site as well as in Social media

You will see the result within week and will definitely saying thanks to me.

    Regards
    James

Visuals is the first impact your site makes before anyone reads your content.

You might want to create a header which looks like a legitimate site. When it loads, the logo is text based. This makes the site look unprofessional. Try creating a cool looking logo and place your header ad to the right of the logo, so it doesn't become obtrusive when you size down the window.

A small change like this makes a big difference.
