Whenever I write content for my blog. I reference from where I got the inspiration.. however, I am confused weather to give the link "nofollow" or "follow"... Can you please explain the real difference and when I should use any of these? Sincere Regards!
Excellent question. My advice is to use nofollow because: 1. If your reference is from website with greater domain authority, it will outrank your blog, 2. If you reference to some blog with low DA, you will send some link juice from your blog, and that will give it a boost in rankings. So, it is safer to use nofollow. Use follow only for internal links and if you are referencing to your other blog, if you have.
If you are inspiring by some sites then is better to give them dofollow tag I am using nofollow tag only if I want to point out some strange, illegal or adult websites hope it helps
If everything goes in this way: PageRank algo and Backlink Quality factor will have no use. I would suggest you to use Dofollow to appreciate their work (as you took reference form their content)
Nofollow backlinks help with your link diversity by having a wide range of links from multiple sources making it look a bit more natural. Lets say a REALLY powerful and trusted site in your Niche gives you a NoFollow, then the user/traffic benefits are good. Also Some NoFollow helps to make you look more natural. But 60% that is REALLY HIGH.
you should give a follow link when you truly want to give credit to another link. a follow link is an endorsement. If you want to add the link but do not endorse it use no follow.
I think both no follow and do follow gives weight, but if you want to get a higher PR then you need a do follow PR. I use both methods to link because it looks natural.
