Liking random posts

Is it against the rules to go around liking random posts? Just wondering cause I may know someone who is doing this. If so, how do I go about proving this and reporting said person to get him/her banned and their privileges revoked?

This has nothing to do with spam. I'm saying that I highly suspect a certain user (who shall not be named) is going around and randomly liking other user's posts to one-up them. Are their rules against this, or is this form of abuse acceptable?

Report one of those posts where he has handed out a like. Make your report detailed, and I'm sure a mod will then investigate.

As i know the one who ask for likes is the guilty one, right?
Why someone who give likes must be afraid of being banned in a day because he likes to many things? Not fair at all! :)

Why not? Hes abusing the system. There should at least be a limit as to how many likes you can give out within a 24 hour period.

Common, @rahahm33 you have time too look after people which like too many things? sounds like a censure...
@Spoiltdiva you seems to be an established member here,... will really admins look into this with this point of view?

I'm coming from a country where things like this are everywhere around, and i'm finding myself here talking in a democratic/liberal way. I suppose i should have THE RIGHT to like and show to others that i like things. Even if i do this 10 times a day...that's it. No one has the right to limit my positive feelings.

And finally, @digitalpoint sorry for disturbing. What do you think about this?

Ironic how like-whoring is generally accepted within this community, yet asking for likes (publicly or privately) will get you a ban. I can name several members I've personally witnessed abuse the like system by giving out likes to those who clearly do not deserve it.

its common to see people spamming with likes on facebook (not in a bad way usually just like "Ok, I read it" usually followed up with a comment, but here likes are sacred haha...
people even pay for them that's crazy

The mods allow us complete freedom as to how we hand out our likes. But if a member were to flagrantly violate like giving and if it were very obvious, my sense is that the mods would likely step in at some point in time.

How would they determine if someone is giving likes at random or if they actually liked the post that they gave a like to anyways?

Just the same way you have determined that someone is giving likes at random.;)

You seem to both be sure someone is randomly giving out likes and yet at the same time unsure on how anyone could determine that. When you get this all sorted out in your own mind, let us know.

Anyway, here is the answer to your concern:
People are free to like whatever they want, it is based on subjective opinion. However, if the mods, in their infinite wisdom, determine the likes are being abused, they will act. Simple, eh?

whats the point of making users get 3 likes to become established if it can be abused so easily?

Just because that is your perception doesn't mean that it is so. I happen to disagree that the system is so easily manipulated as you have suggested in this thread.

Make it clear you think the person is "like trading" and we'll see if we come to the same conclusion. Give any evidence - like fiverr deals by the same user.
How did you come to that conclusion?
I've seen some users like every reply in a thread they've started. Talk about emotionally insecure! "Oh jeez, thank you so much for noticing that I'm alive"
    But like trading? Not necessarily.

No, but I don't see that we have an existing rule against it. The forum rules evolve from problematic situations and we'll be watching this closely.

In the meantime, if you think something is fishy, let us know.
If you see a thread that you think is problematic, report one of the posts and detail your concerns. We will review the entire thread.
