    CMS would be fair, but calling it a script is probably a windows hangover from "programs" that needed to be installed using .exe files, were closed source and had limited user modifications. Script implies it's a collection of files, readable source (so you can check for nasties) and has the ability to plugin to another system, or to have modifications made to it.

    I guess to me, a script is more of a reusable bit of code rather than a complete stand-alone product. I guess I've just always defined a script more like a function. Scripts were used to install programs and weren't the program itself. I have always thought calling a product like phpLD or WordPress or the one being discussed a script simply because they do not have to be compiled to run somehow disrespected all of the work that went into them.

    I suppose it's simply a matter of the programming world's inability to find a single word to describe what once would have been referred to as an uncompiled program.
