Outsourcing Programming to supportresort.com

I was considering outsourcing some programming to a Indian company by the name of Support Resort ( http://www.supportresort.com )

I was looking at this package here:

    http://supportresort.com/plans/programming/

Has anyone ever used this company or those of you who are on this board from India do you have any comment on the company or their programmer's skills, etc. ?

    Thanks in advance.

I had a client that once used support resort. I was the clients main PHP programmer and I basically gave overload work to the indian programmers. If they get EXACT instructions on what to code, they usually do it right and fairly quickly. Try to get too complicated and they mess it up completely. I had to COMPLETELY redo at least 2 dynamic sites that were done very poorly. It was too difficult to go in and "patch" their code so basically both project had to be started from scratch. That client has since dumped support resort.

So, for easy stuff, they are fast and cheap. Getting into anything more complicated and they need handholding and spec sheets that psuedo-code the whole thing out for them... at which point you might as well do it yourself.

Also, there is fairly high turn-over rate for programmers. You might have a certain programmer that has been assigned to your project all of sudden be switched to somebody else that you need to get to speed on the project.

I would be interested in a similar site as well. Do you know if they use coding standards like classes, documentation etc. or just dump up stuff?

yes of course. Look for eastern European and Indian outsourcing companies. Wages are small in these countries (I pay my programmers around 1000$ per month or even lower) and the quality is usually the same. You should make a list of countries where you think outsourcing is worth it and google it. You could start with India, Romania and Bulgaria. Since I'm living in one I haven't really taken an interest of where I can outsource projects. It's usually the other way around :)
