Hello, It's been a long while since I've searched out a more permanent hosting solution, so bear with me, especially if I get into too much detail. Dedicated IPs I am going to run, initially, about 5 sites that all require SSL's. With that said I need dedicated IP's associated with each of these sites. I will need the ability for the hosting to allow me to add sites going forward with additional dedicated IP's (with associated SSLs) as I grow. I don't foresee getting past ten total such sites in the first 12 months, but it is feasible. They need to be clean. Please, at least to your knowledge, no old spammer IPs. USA Geo Location I need geo location of the IPs/Server within the US. I am OK if you have different server farms across the US in which different sites would be placed, they just need to be here. I'm here, the businesses are local. California based would be a HUGE plus, as most of these are going to be local small businesses in the southern California area, but this is not necessary by any stretch of the imagination. Disk Space I really don't need a ton of space, currently I am using a whopping 2.5 gigs across 25 or so sites. While I expect this to grow, I am not expecting to get over 10-20 gigs anytime soon; if ever. Bandwidth I am currently only using 15megs of bandwidth as I am just getting some of these sites setup. This will go up and there may even be local media attention for some of the sites that could cause small traffic spikes. However, even when I was doing this before I don't recall ever getting over 100-200 gigs, but I want it just in case I need it. Private Nameservers I would like to be able to use private nameservers. Miscellaneous I'd like to have WHM and Cpanel. I am looking to keep costs low at first, especially since I am doing a lot of stuff for charity and really won't see any money for at least a couple of months. Something where we can grow together, kind of thing. I am currently using reseller hosting and I am just tired of the outages, they claim arent outages, sites going down because they have IP issues, etc... I think I'd like to start off with 8 if possible. 2 for private nameservers and 6 for individual sites. Nothing special out of what I mentioned above. I suspect each site to receive around 5000 unique visitors a month on the high end (yeah, not a whole lot). We will be using some wordpress. Again, not a whole lot. My needs are rather minimal, but I look for the Geo location and the uptime as being primary for me.
using private name servers s easy. even on shared hosting. Just get the ip of the nameservers the host provided you with. Go to your domain registrar and in DNS records, choose a records and add two records. Anything you want, like ns1 and ns2. Point it to the same IP and then change your domains name server to that ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com No matter which host it is, this would work as long as you update the dns records of ns1 and ns2 to the host's name server IP. I have used it like this with IPage. You are always free to point your domain to any nameserver and i guess this is also a free option too.
You should really consider going with a VPS instead of dedicated which may be overkill for the amount of traffic you are pushing along with such little disk space. If you do decide to go with vps/cloud servers, I highly recommend going with ExaCloud Systems and their VPS Servers.
