I'm curious. On occasion, I'll see a site that is listed as https://domain.com instead of how I see most other sites (www.domain.com). Does it matter? Good? Bad? What's the scoop? Thanks, Pete
the "s" in the https means that the site is secure, which is good if you are buying from them or creating an account on their site.
Thanks for the reply. I understand what the "s" is for... what I don't understand is: On occasion, I'll see a site that is listed as https://domain.com instead of how I see most other sites (www.domain.com). Does this play a role in actual ranking/results? (when a site is listed as https instead of www)...
One of the many mistakes that are made when purchasing an SSL certificate is they buy it for domain.com instead of www.domain.com so you will see these sites listed without the www otherwise their certificate will not show as valid.
ufshane, That's very interesting. Do you feel it has any impact on the actual positioning? In other words, if you have two identical site (in pretend world...LOL) and the only difference was that one was shown as www.domain.com and the other had the https://domain.com... Would Google look at it differently or would it, for all practical purposes, be the same? Thanks!
Honestly I will leave that to an SEO expert, for www.valuetelcom.com/index.php we made sure our SSL Cert was for www and we made sure that all pages are directed to www. including our sitemap submissions just to be sure
