How to find out the spam or low quality directories?

    Just look at the listings on the directory. If the titles are just anchor text and not the business title don't submit to it. You can also check the cached pages, if Google has a problem with the directory it will have very few cached pages.

    A better way of phrasing that question is "with which directory sites does google have a problem?"
    The answer is the ones with the low quality editing. A look through the latest links or some of the categories can often be an easy way to find if the seem to be of quality. If all they did was sit back and wait for submissions to come to them and were not actively adding their own links and content, most likely google would not give them good results. There are MANY low quality directories, but not ALL directories are low quality. The really good ones probably would not like to be on a list or announced to people in a forum like this.
