i think joomla is most popular CMS for creating e-commerce site.because it provide it provides very innovative environment then wordpress.
Depending on your type of sales: - if your site is focus on 1 time sales you should opt for wordpress and a quick sale process - if your site is focused on returning customers you should use Joomla that includes more user management functionality, wishbox

joomla the best cms bro , and their alot of extenasion for it like virtuemart , akeba ...pm me if you need help i am webdesginer and development for joomla and wordpress
I wouldn't ever recommend WordPress to someone creating an eCommerce site, however, I don't have much experience with Joomla to be able to compare the two
If you think your site display lot of product then you can use joomla with virtumart component and it's module and plugins. If site is lite weight (small or few product) then you can use wordpress with e-shop plugins.
i think joomla is better for any ecommerce site. because it has many plugin or component which make the ecommerce site very easily in your hand.you can follow this site
I personally do not like Joomla at all. But, if you're choosing between the two, I'd say go with WordPress due to the large user base thus more plugins, themes, etc. If you're in to exploring other options, I'd say give Drupal and/or PyroCMS a shot. PyroCMS is the system I use for most of my sites. I think it's great.
Yes. SoftwareExperts is correct. The best solution for ecommerce is PrestaShop or Magento. There will be many instant plugins are available in the market where they can save a lost of development time.
Joomla is slow, heavy not secured as wordpress. Also, coding is 10x better in Wordpress, SEO is much much better and optimized (google and other search engines simply love to crawl WP). Also, Joomla developers should write the code from scratch... when you look under the hood (coding) that is below the current standards. Wordpress is more flexible than joomla, better hook/plugin system, better support, better and recent updates, more modern templates (joomla is almost always same - you can easily recognize joomla, because of awful template and caching system). Overall, much better solution for any kind of website (complex or simple): ecommerce, media gallery, portfolio, blogging, simple/complex presentation... On fresh install Joomla looks more complex (just because of "complex" admin panel), but when you start working and adding some contents/addons/templates Joomla looks like ant compared to WP (specially if you have some web programing knowledge - php, mysql...). Also, the choice depends on what you want...
I have developed eCommerce websites on Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal etc. I strongly recommend Joomla because the Kings (eBay, Harvard, Cadillac, General Electric, Barnes and Nobles, Heathrow Airport etc) are all using Joomla. I you are building an affiliate store, wordpress is fine. Joomla also has a future
Because of simple interface and modules and easy of access, Wordpress is suitable with blogs or small sites. And Joomla is a better choice for professional e-commercial sites with various customized modules.
You can take a look at WordPress with the free woCommerce plugin http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/
joomla is the best as compared to wordpress when you are going to build a e-commerce website. you can also try some of world's renowned cms too , like ZenCart, OpenCart, OSCommerce, Prestashop. joomla with virtue mart can solve your problem.
