As it was enough for many webmasters (dependent on G) to face Penguin and Panda in two recent consecutive years, now, Penguin 2.1 and Hummingbird bloomed them again. Reigning the world of search engines, Google continuously refining its search results that leaves many webmasters and SEO gurus unspoken. So, what are the options left before these webmasters? First of all, you should understand that Google is not the only place from where we can generate traffic. Social media has proven worthy enough for referring good amount of targeted traffic if used wisely. Also, the social signals become important in Google SEO. Apart from social media, we can look towards other big Search engines like Bing, Yahoo and Ask. However, they are trailed by Google but I am sure, if one can secure a good ranking on these search engines then he/she can enjoy huge traffic as well. Now, what to do if you have been hit by the recent Hummingbird and Penguin 2.1 updates… Consider these steps: 1 – Don’t do something in hurry. If your site has lost its ranking recently then, wait for at least next 7 days while keeping an eye on daily ranking updates. It’s quite possible that the site may regain the previous ranking if nothing is wrong with your backlink profile or with the content on your site. 2 – If still, there is no improvement then checkout your Google Webmasters account. Check Manual Webspam Actions if they have posted there anything about your site. If there is something then you should immediately take on the concerned matter and file a reconsideration request. 3 – If there is nothing in Manual Webspam Actions then you should go with some SEO tools in order to rectify your backlink profile. There are a good number of such SEO tools services providers that can help you in rectifying the suspicious backlinks. Most of them will be from low quality bookmarking sites, directories and article submission sites. 4 – Now develop an email template (for link removal request) and send the mails to all of those webmasters from where you are getting suspicious backlinks. Wait for some days for their replies. Check how many of them have removed the backlinks. And how many didn’t respond. 5 – As per the replies from webmasters, create an excel sheet with all the records of sent mail, backlinks from a particular domain, replies from webmasters etc. 6 – Now, try to disavow the rest of the suspicious backlinks and file a reconsideration request to Google Webspam team. Now, what you have done it all. It’s the time to again working hard on your backlink profile and posting fresh quality content on your website/blog. This time keep variations in anchor texts (use at least 4-5 anchor texts and make at least 40% backlinks with naked URL). Also, make at least 30% backlinks pointing to inner pages. Post fresh content for at least 15 days continuously. The keyword density should be around 1 – 1.5% in content. Get all the backlinks from niche related websites only and don’t prefer sitewide or blogroll backlinks. I hope it will help you guys.
This is true. I get almost as much traffic from Bing and Yahoo each as I do from Google. And I get a small, but not insignificant, amount of traffic from such sites as Squidoo, Facebook, and even Yahoo Answers.
Thanks Demon ! I Read all your above six step about recovery Of Ranking after Google update. I will follow all these step. I hop , i will also recover my website ranking soon.
@Jim4767 you must not rank well in Google then because Google owns 67.5% of the search market. I rank #1 for a lot of my terms in Bing and Yahoo and I would be sick if my Google traffic matched my Bing and Yahoo traffic.
As I'm always saying, NEVER do something in hurry, especially with SEO, it will probably be even worse if you do something too fast... (before you think)
