Me (digital noise) and James (JPDevuyst) are doing this contest together. Any feedback from JPDevuyst should be considered feedback from our client. Our client is The Willes Entrepreneurship Center, which is part of the campus of Brigham Young University at Hawaii. The look that the client is going for with this Logo contest: Professional, clean, innovative. The client has a variety of slogans that they use throughout the school-year. Among these are: “Learn, Return, Earn” and “Start the Fire.” The Logo should be crisp and should also look good in black and white. The color version should match our school colors – Primarily crimson (PMS 201/#9E1B34), with black and/or white. Gold (PMS 1255/#AA800E) or gray (PMS 428/#CED306) highlights or accents may also be included. The image should be professional and innovative itself. The contest will run for 48hrs or until a clear winner is chosen. The winner will need to provide the logo in Vector and PSD. All questions and submission must be submitted through the thread. We will not take any PM-ed designs or questions. The winning designer will receive $35, paid through paypal. Please let me know in the thread if you have any questions. Below are 4 samples of logos with their favorable elements highlighted. Following those images, I’ve included their current logo and why the client doesn’t like it. The client likes the visual of showing an idea or product being created or born here. It fits with innovation. The client likes the sense of action/motion with this logo. It could indicate that things are happening in the Willes Center and the Center can help students make things happen. The client also likes logos that can creatively use negative space, like the two below (if a letter is to be displayed, please only use W not WC) Below is the client’s current logo. While it has neat aspects to it (The hidden shirt-and-tie, the mountain, the negative “W”) it is just a bit too professional - kind of accountant-esque.
Hi All - I'm on the design team and you'll be getting your feedback from me on behalf of the client. Cheers!
The following entry is my best design for Willis. I figured out the center requires a symbolistic icon and though that a hawk ( power to focus, clear vision, mutual respect etc. ) made out of the letter "W" - as in for Willis, would be what your center requires.
This is my submission. Works in all colors, white on black, black on white. Easy to see in all sizes. On business cards, shirts, posters or icons for websites. Shadows are optional. Feedback would be great.
@Rzxor - You have got some fantastic work here. I'll have better feedback for you after speaking with my client, soon. @Athisa - Very interesting design, but I feel my client would appreciate something a little more subtle - also please keep the colour scheme in mind. @kferguson - Thanks for the submission. I'd like to see a greater emphasis on my clients logo design. @DesignerPROKI - Thank you for your effort on that submission - however, I'm not sure my client will understand the logo. @sushant1221 - Your submissions are very creative. Please keep the better focus on the logo design rather than text alone. I'll let you know how my client feels about them - Thank you! @biscuitdzn - Will you please elaborate on your logo design? Also, please be mindful of the colour scheme. Thank you for your submission. @CloudKid - Neat idea here. Could you make the logo more pronounced? Thank you!
