I have a very talented friend. Another friend and I want to start a YouTube channel for this person an outlet for their skills. What is the best bang for our buck when it comes to audio recording equipment - i.e. Microphones, sound editing software, etc.
quiet room, good quality microphone/camera, and a free sound / video editor is more than sufficient. its the content that matters, not the fancy gadgets.
a video camera , at least 6-8 megapixel, should be around 300-400$ a normal mic ( 20-30$) google - free video /audio editor
not all mics are created equal, yes, but a normal 10-20$ one is enough for your startup requirements. 2000$ mic will be needed after you start to make 10k a day from the business.
They should in theory know a range of this stuff but you can get away with an sm58 for vocals, condenser mics for live instruments. You will get a bit more separation on the sm58 which helps a bit if you have stuff in the same room. Likely need a little soundboard as well. Mackies are nice. hope that helps a bit. I could ramble about this for a while lol.. Nigel
Nigel, that is exactly the kind of advice that I am looking for! I'd like to give it a "like" but I'm new to DP and I'm unsure how that goes, haha. But best answer, anyways!
Sure no sweat. At the end of the day Sennheiser is where its at of course. This is a tad old but you can check for updated models of what is there. http://audio.tutsplus.com/tutorials/recording/10-best-affordable-microphones-for-the-home-studio/ glad I could help, Nigel
