Hi, I would like to run a news sites, but I don't have reporters and stuff like that, so I'm thinking to search the news over the Internet and after that rewrite the news(not just copy paste) and also give credit to the source of the news at the end. Is it ok, if I do that, or would I infringe Copywrite rules?
umm, i think you will not infringe the copyright rules, it is alright that if you post unique content, the theme may be the same, but your content quality should be unique and seem like original. Also, i think you do not need to link to the original source. You just make your write up great. so that the reader does not go to any other webpage to know more about the particular news. Make your reader feel that she or he got the complete and relatively better knowledge by reading your post.
If you use someone elses news or stories you have to link or note the source and if you don't you are opening yourself up for a lawsuit.
Be sure to follow your own advice here. I don't have any legal training per se, but have had to deal with this issue. What I've learnt is that copyright protection is automatic and does not require a copyright notice. Federal (Canada & U.S.A) publications are the exception to this rule unless "derived". Also facts and ideas are not copyrighted. Be sure to give credit if the work is in the public domain. Give credit anytime you don't have the owners permission to use the content. Also give credit if the content has a legal exception to use it.
