Hi, i have website with big traffic, sometimes 30 visitors per sec, and hosting is poor, if i have big traffic website loads sometimes 30s and more. I want server, probably dedicated server, but i am not programator, i have only programator and he know upload website to ftp and database. I want dedicated hosting, where I will not have to do anything, only set up ftp, database and done. On dreamhost/com dedicated server is this possible? I want server that will be good with high traffic, maybe 150 000 visitors per day. They answer me this: My question Yes, but is dedicated server managed by you? It is something like hosting but with better parameters? Now i have hosting, only FPT and database. I am not programator, its hard for me. Answer It is fully managed by our panel just like shared hosting (you don't have to do anything but use our panel to configure the services and of course your site content). Thank you for answer.
What type of website you are running? Currently on which type of web hosting package you are hosting this website?
If you ask me, I was impressed by crookservers.com dedicated servers. Their services are widely represented in the web hosting market. The thing is that you need to look at the quality of the service and especially customer support.
Dedicated servers, with the licenses as well as full management cost $300-$500 depending on what you need. You *might* not need a full dedicated server, but you might only need a high quality VPS with SSD drives. Before you join a company, you need to ask them what their management includes, as some companies offer varying degrees of management. You may also want to ask about trying to start out on a VPS, and mirgrating to a dedi if it doesnt solve your issues. check out liquidweb, they have really good support.
A good answer that actually answers the question. I would take the response "It is fully managed by our panel just like shared hosting" with a very large pinch of salt. An installed control panel might make things easier to use/set-up but it depends upon what software is installed on your server and what the Control Panel is controlling. The average web site/domain usually needs access to the following services just to work in the most basic sense.... Web Server DNS Service FTP Service Database service Email service Not all have to be installed on the server but you generally need access to them Then there are other things Security from server lockdown to software such as AV Backup Maintenance Disaster recovery - software and hardware failures (unmanaged servers usually only include hardware replacement - OS/software re-install and set-up is your responsibility) Software set-up & configuration Integration of software (e.g. DB server) into Control Panel Updates - OS and Software A managed server will provide many of these things built-in or made available for you to use (free or at a cost). An unmanaged server is a bit of hardware and an operating system with the rest being up to you. You need a MANAGED SERVER (or VPS) but you need help to manage it from a real person. The control panel will only help so much but you need to be sure that other help is available either as part of the package or for an add-hoc fee when required.
