Why would I get an infraction for this?

I just got an email saying I was given an infraction for a post that said
"I am looking for some help on a WP site and plugin mod. Let me know if you can do this kind of work"
His post said he does Wordpress but I was curious as to if he does plugin mods as well. So I don't see why this would get an infraction?

It's probably a post that should have been sent in a PM instead as it adds no value to the thread.
I assume it falls under this rule:
that's just the way i see it but a mod should clarify it for you.

Well having a question that was not answered would help everyone reading the post so that logic is flawed. Do mods get points or something for finding useless things like this? Should I flag every post that says PM me?

Malky66 is correct. Notice thread starter says, "PM me with the things you need, I will give you a quote immediately."

But I was not looking for a quote, I was looking to see if he did mods. We only get so many PM storage, why waste it with that, I like it to be in the open. But whatever.

Ha, I just looked, maybe it was the old format that had the limit, or I could be thinking of a different site. But nonetheless this is a FORUM and I should be able to ask a question in the open without being marked for it. I was not asking for a quote from him at that time, was just curious if he was capable of it. It's a moot point anyways.

Well it's a bit of a grey area, and personally I probably wouldn't have given a warning for it.

The way I look at it when giving "No Value" warnings is, "Does anything change for anyone if this post was removed?" Not sure of the overall context, but someone asking a question that is relevant to the sale thread it was made in is usually okay by me (of course people can ask some moronic questions just to be an idiot that wouldn't pass that test).

I have almost exactly the same issue for which a warning was issued. All I asked OP was if he had found a good coder. I dont think it should be such a big offense to ask a relavant and simple question. I did not think it was appropriate for me to PM the OP with a question.

Surprisingly the OP responded to me very nicely with a detailed explanation of two coders he liked and why.
I can understand someone being warned for a post that was totally irrelevent or just to raise the post count/spam etc but with this kind of nazism, I am better off being away from the forum forever.

You made yourself look like a fool.

Comparing a meaningless warning on a forum to Nazism, where millions of Russians, Catholics, Jews, and other were killed, just makes you look, well, idiotic.

I know/hope you are just joking. If you were not, you would simply leave the forum and move on. This post is typical grandstanding letting me know that 10 years from now, you will still be posting.

You asked him to "let me know" implying that you didn't want his response to be in the forum. If you want a private response you should ask the question privately. If you want him to post in the thread then just ask the question.

How does saying "let me know" imply that I want a private message? If I wanted a private message I would have sent him a private message in the first place.
Maybe I should have worded it differently? I will try and keep that in mind for you next time so you don't start implying things about what I want or do not want.

It's safe to say that if something can be handled via PM, then it shouldn't be posted in a thread. I don't think it takes a genius to figure out if you post something like "let me know" the reply is only going to be of benefit to you and no one else on the forum, hence the reason you received the infraction.

I asked if he does a certain function as well, who knows who else would also want that service as well? It must take a genius to figure that out right?

EDIT: Please close this thread, I really don't care anymore...lol
