I am lost in this repsect. I started an online company which sells gaming supplies (playing cards, poker chips, roulette accessories etc...), sourced all the product, but I have no idea how to advertise it. My top budget is around $300/month Any suggestions?
I would do: Weak press release ($40) PPC Banner advertising on poker forums Posting on poker forums Affiliate program (and promote the crap out of your affiliate program) Text link purchasing on poker sites Text link exchange Directory submission Article writing and submission Blog with poker news, stats, etc and allow users to subscribe to RSS feed Newsletter to get repeat customers Social networking and bookmarking arent really for this type of site, so you would more than likely be wasting bandwidth (unless you have a really cool or unique product). You have several options in the online advertising arena: First if you choose adwords you need to have a landing page, website - where customers can get your contact information and complete a business transaction with you. The downside here is that it is quite expensive for this "pay per click" method which only guarantee a page view but not a lead conversion! Second you can get an SEO company which could create such a landing page and charge you a monthly fee for advertising which might be within your budget. The downside is that you pay a monthly service forever and they require a long therm commitment and sometime say that you can get results only after a certain period of time! BEWARE of the "google first page or top ranking on google" advertising, since even if you get that high per certain keywords - you will not be there for a longer duration of time.. perhaps hours or days but that is it. To be on top is usually a spot for large paying customers of Google through adwords! and or companies with hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising. Third - you can get a business page or a business listing with companies such as Manta, Superpages, Citysearch and others alike. BEWARE for monthly advertising budgets, setup fees or long term contracts. In some cases you can open an account for say $100 a month which get's you only so many clicks in this "pay per click" system. If you go overboard in the past they charged you say $3 or $400 or more while you might not get the customer leads! In the end you can do some research for yourself and always select companies which have BBB ratings, are secure, offer no setup fee, no contracts or cancellation fees but also that you are in control and approve a higher monthly advertising budget!
