Ok, I have one link with .gov extension. Say abc.gov and have redirect link abc.gov/redirect.aspx. I put my URL after that and it says "abc.gov/redirect.aspx?url="bla bla bla". IT is PR 3. Dos that mean I will get juice of PR 3 and that too from GOV site? Will this really help me in SEO and can I say I have backlinks from Gov websites?

 

And, how will Google perceive these backlinks when they detect them? Could there be repercussions for using this method, such as search engine penalties? Anyway, if you use this method, I'd suggest doing so first with a lesser site that you don't mind risking. This test will allow you to see if any penalties occur.

 

That's usually best. I just tried it with a site that I don't mind if it drops out of the index.

 

you cant get penalised for that, you know why, becaus if it was so easy to penalise site I would do it with my concurents. Just by submiting some easy links like that. You cant control who links to you.

 

These backlinks doesn't count or pass link juice ater the panda/ penguin updates. So they are useless.

 

Are you sure that we won't get anything from those? I think as my url is being placed there and if the redirection works fine then Google will see that traffic is coming from an edu or a gov site. I think that matters.

 

I heard from my friend that backlinks is works. but you can't using they in many number.

None of your link actually redirect!

Also I think google will not consider this for ranking. Chance of getting spam penalize is also possible. I suggest not to do even if link work for you.

Its very possible that Google would view them as spam links and disregard them.

However, some do believe that it can get new websites or new content more quickly indexed by the search engines.
Some people also use them to trick MOZ and other ranking tools into giving an artificially high score, which can help to get a higher price on domains that they are selling.

I think these would probably not have any major effect on you ranking, more likely they would be seen as spam if you have hundreds of redirects...

 

These links work for some time, and also don't create much effect on the website ranking.

Yes I also don't think this will help to ranking sites, because this is some how black hat SEO, there is a risk of get banded from SERPs
