The same strategy will work, building more references (backlinks) from different media. Think of your static page as a landing page (usually in affiliate product sale campaigns) as those are static pages also and people optimize them for traffic.
It does not matter if a website is html or wordpress or whatever the coding is. The 3 most Important factors in SEO are no1. On Page seo and website structure, no2. Off page seo...meaning backlinks from Relevant websites and no 3. Social factor...google loves it when your website is getting some traffic from facebook, twitter, pinterest, youtube and so on. So you must focus on those and you will see a jump in rankings.
1. Make sure you do on-page optimization. (i.e. Put your keyword in the title tag, h1 tag, and within the text a couple times) 2. Add a video if you can (just get an embed code from a Youtube video you like and put it somewhere on the page). 3. Buy high-PR links to your site from relevant sites. Make sure you vary the anchor text from these links. Make only 10% or so exact match anchor text links.
You also create web 2.0 blogs and post new update content and put your website links in content. I think it is best way for get good ranking for your website and also changes on page couple of months......Because on page optimization is a best way for get good ranking...

You'll have to be a tad more aggressive with your link building to other niche relevant web properties. Create a presence on Youtube and link back to your site. Get heavily involved with different social media platforms (twitter, google+, facebook) and tweet/share news that will spark interest. Press releases may also help too.
