    Hi again friends,
We are starting a new logo design contest. Here are the rules :
We need a logo for our main company site : http://www.psionic-studios.com.
What we have in mind right now is :
The company is international so we will need a way of showing that (the earth ?).
Here is a definition of psionic if you need it : Psionic
The image will be horizontal. Our current slogan is "creative web based solutions for growing businesses" but if you can think of something new and unique, you can get extra credit for it.
We will also need the company name inside the logo "Psionic Studios, LLC"
You can start with one image but at the end we will need these :
    Full Color image,
    Printed colors image, and
    B/W image.
No color scheme in mind yet but as we did before we will provide proper feedback.

    And now the prizes :
Our #1 spot will take $120 via paypal
and Our #2 spot will take $60 again via paypal.

The contest starts now and will end on : December 12th, 12:01 PM (NY time).
We wish good luck to all contestants ... Now get your pens errr.... I mean mice and show us what you've got.

Hi. You don't have to match it to the site (forgot to mention that). The site may be redesigned to match the logo if we like it. That's a nice try however :
The earth must be made like a clipart image. Also the text should be Psionic Studios, LLC - we may add .com later. A sample slogan would also be nice. Keep it simple cause it's going to appear on letterheads / faxes / mail etc. Will post more comments when we get more images.

Edit - Also - don't concentrate on the earth alone when I said that - you can use anything you find suitable.

OK last update for today (or I think so). Try to make the logo original - something innovative in the ebusiness world. This logo will be trademarked for sure so I need unique designs with unique new concepts. Also I have received some PMs with entries - we can't nominate an entry that's not in the thread - mostly cause it's not fair to the other contestants. Will post more comments when I have the chance. Thank you all for your work.

    Update :
raghav - very very nice work
SNiiP3R - we like yours a lot too - could you play with the colors and add a slogan ?
sinopse - too psionic otherwise we like the concept. We are looking for something simpler though.
Crayz - sorry not exactly what we're looking for
lassie911 - nice idea but again we need something simpler yet effective
Freelance GD - work on the logo and colors

Again, thanks for all the great entries so far and remember you can have as many as you want (there's plenty of time until the end)

There is a small problem here.

If you or the company are going to use this logo on business cards, letterheads, envelopes..ect Then the logo's width and height should be in inches not in pixels. The resolution should be 300 dpi. Otherwise, not only that it will come out extremely small looking, the quality of the logo is going to be horrible.

Now, if I'll use inches and high res (300 dpi) then you won't be able to use it on the webpage. Since, it has to be in pixels and use 72 dpi res. Resizing it will ruin the quality, it will become blurry.

    But I have a solution :)

dear all: Sniper has a very good point.
We will use the logo for bcards and other printed materials for which we will need hi-res image - preferably 300dpi with approximately 5" width and whatever the heigh is proportional to your design.
Bigger is better in this case
Bigger can always be made smaller but the opposite will cause decrease in quality.
Or ... we can use SNiiP3R's solution if he wants to share it with us :)

Yeah a very sharp point sniper has.. ( as far as i have understood the point)
But we always keep solutions with us.
When the final logo is delivered it contains all the formats, including raster and vector both, so there is no compromises with the quality.
Can be use on the web..and for printing.

    regards

One of the solutions would be as Raghav said, use vector type applications such as, Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator. Photoshop does not support vector, so you can't make high quality logos using Photoshop.

Guess I'll have to change the rules on that one ...
How's about this one : all people will submit their entries in psd and the 2 winners will have to submit their images in vector as well.

Photoshop does not support vector. Illustrator and Corel and I believe Flash do. And not everyone has all these programs as they are quite expensive. I always create logos in Illustrator and then export them as .eps or .psd files. And save at different sizes for .jpgs, .gifs and .pngs with picture perfect resolution.

For printing purposes, you can use the 300 dpi high res photoshop, but, at some point you will run into pixelating as it does NOT support true vector because it is a RASTER program. So, this is how I understand it to be....Maybe it would be worth the contest holder's time and money to call Adobe and find out???

At any rate, here is my entry, true vector:
