well said. Just to add up, get good backlinks that look natural in the eyes of search engines. A good amount of nofollow links will have a good contribution as well.

Yea, nofollow links are necessary as well. It's like "Yin and Yang", If any of them are missing there is not balance ;)

More backlinks, more social signals, more content, more traffic... It's basically like anything else, the more you have of the "good stuff" the better your DA will be.

What everyone said + domain age. Maybe this doesnt have great powers on it but most of the times i get better results with old domains!

True. Although domain age plays a little factor in ranking (still debatable) I think the reason why they are valued is because they are more established and has older backlinks. Your thoughts?

Domain Authority is measured by several metrics but is related to the quality and numbers of links pointing to a a web domain.

In order for you to increase these metrics you need to acquire some more good quality links to your web pages

Diverse types links. Press releases, do follow/no follow blogs, links on social web 2.0 websites, homepage links, guest article posts, and social signals. Focus on the quality of the link you're getting. Also, index your links. A good way to do that is by utilizing Google +.

It's best to engage in all of the platforms you have mentioned. They are all very good social media sites... Youtube, pinterest and linkedin as well.

All of them. The more social traffic/social signals you get for your website the better.

    According to SEOMOz :

Domain Authority is SEOmoz’s calculated metric for how well a given domain is likely to rank in Google.com’s search results. It is based on the Linkscape web index and includes link counts, mozRank, mozTrust, and dozens more. It uses a machine learning model to predicatively find an algorithm that best correlates with rankings across thousands of search results that we predict against. Source – Moz

The best tradition of increasing domain authority is by driving more traffic to your blog. With the recent Google panda update I suggest you write very exclusive and pragmatic content for your site. Next step is to comment heavily on same niche blogs. This also helps us to increase back links to your site and posts. And building high quality back links means increasing your Google page rank.

So it means it’s all about link building, quality of back links, domain trust and dozens of other factors. Overall its one of the most complicated algorithm and you really need to put lots of effort to improve it.
