I was making my monthly report when i saw something new on google search. While i was searching for my keyword rank, All the posts on the blogs which were made before 2008 were disappeared, were not showing in SERP. This made a major impact on those keyword of mine which were showing on 3rd-4th page of google. The topic was on a Bike review and the keyword had some 50-60 views on analytics. I am wondering if this is also among the updates.. whats your view?
You might want to check your Google Webmaster Tools > Search Traffic > Links to your site Maybe a certain PR0 is linking to your site. I found a domain: adorio-research.org with 88 inbound links linking to a single page. I submitted disavow request. Still waiting for the result...
Who knows what Google is up to these days. You can never be sure. They are trying out so many things and updates and making it a messy affair for all.
Yes, Google gives preference to fresh and new content and old content would be given lower ranking... if you are not working on that site or page.
Whoever said their search quality is getting better with these new updates? It is getting worse in the opinion of many. Do not get brainwashed by everything Google says about itself.
I am not. Article writing is tough for a person who owns a blog. I just said that people will get fresh and new content from the update.
Tanmay, did you check your rankings by hand or did you use a keyword rank checker? Just curious how far you looked. Many people have been reporting major rank fluctuations starting a few weeks ago, but Google wouldn't confirm an update. This is all I can say so far.
Just do some updates on those pages and ping them back and wait to check if they'll reappear in SERPs.
I just crossed some threads in other forums too people having an fluctuation in there ranking but no updates from Google did you checked by manual or through any tools
3rd or 4th page? That's nearly the same as no rankings at all. Since you said its a bike review, so I recon it is an affiliate site. Maybe you did overdo placing affiliate links on every post or page review. There are sites that got hit on similar date, most of them are affiliate sites and having too much affiliate links was the reason the rankings got tanked.
Yeah, You should update the website content. And can find your keywords top ranking in search engine.
And yes it is an update from google. So folks, Update your posts otherwise your keyword will vanish from the SERP
Some peoples already discuss about Google 'Silent Update'. It is about the sites quality and not only updated content. Site quality depend on many factors such as loading speed, error-free, Proper Link structure, Content Management and couples of tiny but important factors. To bring back the site into previous position, you just need to check 'very high competitive keyword', do some analysis on the sites and make very deep research about them. If you were lucky, there maybe real answer for the question. It is fun to do some researches about the new update, isn't it?
You don't do it by hand. You use a rank checker tool for accuracy. Before you were asking questions, now your giving an advice? Does that mean google will punish your site because you haven't post new articles? That's just silly. You did not even know why your site got tanked. I think it could be affiliate links that's causing you problems. But I am not sure as I haven't seen your site, obv.
I use SEOQuake and it shows the ranks besides the links And yes google needs fresh content. Ashtonish me if you donot agree. And google doesn't directly tells you about the update. You need to analyze it by yourself., Not everything is spoonfed my frnd
