Moved few sites from Economy to VPS but Email not working

Dear Web Admins,

I need a quick help, shouldn't be difficult for you guys.
I recently got 2 of my websites transferred from Godaddy's economy Hosting to their Unmanaged VPS plan, as one of my sites was taking so much of the processing.

Anyway, the point is that the "Contact Us" form for both of my sites is not working, which means if someone has to send an email to my general mailbox through the Contact Us, form it doesn't work (I don't receive any email). This company who is just completing my website conversion from php to Wordpress says that I hired them only for web design/development part but they can not help me with the email issues.

Can anyone help here ? I'm really in need.

You don't receive any mail at all, or does all mail end up in the junk/spam folders of your e-mail inbox? If it ends up in spam/junk folders, you may need to set rDNS for your IP and also setup several things such as SPF & DomainKeys (DKIM). If you don't get any mail at all, is there even a mail server running on the box?

I don't receive an email from the contact us form but if I send an email to this address, I do receive emails. I asked this web development company about this issue and they changed the email ID to some other email ID , then the contact us form works but it doesn't work only with my generic email ID for some reason, and it started happening only after I got my hosting moved from Godaddy Economy to VPS. Some configuration issue I'm sure.

I'm not too technical in the IT world, so won't know of the technical terms you mentioned, unfortunatey :-(

 

I'm guessing the contact form is PHP or some other language. Is PHP actually set up (properly) on the VPS?

One website was on php and I got it converted to WP/moved to VPS
Other website is OpenCart based and I got it moved to VPS

Can you look at it?

 

Congratulations on moving away from Godaddy's hosting service. Godaddy is essentially a domain seller. I would think you could submit a support ticket to your new host and they would set you in the right direction to resolve your issues.

 

Sabrina- I'm still with Godaddy but moved 2 sites from Shared hosting to the VPS. Yes I'd probably check with them and find out. Thanks.

Are you using a control panel with your VPS? Do you also know if you are using the phpmail function, or if you are using an smtp connection for sending the email from your contact form?

Yes I'm using a cpanel with my VPS hosting. Not sure about phpmail or smtp unfortunately :-( Do you want to have a look ?
