Regarding alexa rank on website

Hi,

Just want to know about alexa how they are giving rank to websites. Some 15 days back my friend told me alexa has been removed India base ranking from his site. After that he contacted with them and alexa representative told him that he does not enough visitors from India. But he has checked Google analytic and found it he had visitors from India almost 2000 visitors.

Just worried about this... So kindly guide me regarding how alexa is giving rank?

Tell your friend to forget about Alex - it's obsolete

Alexa gives rank according to traffic, but it only counts the traffic from users that have their toolbar installed.

 

The rank is calculated using a combination of average daily visitors to this site and pageviews on the site over the past 3 months. The site with the highest combination of visitors and pageviews is ranked #1.

Although irrelevant for the website owner, the alexa rank is useful only if you want to sell your site. You can get someone or someone using a bot or software to increase your alexa rank very fast, but what does it show? and to help which purpose?

Alexa won't hep you with ANYTHING... It's just a number... You can have a website with Alexa 50,000 and NO sales at all and also 5,000,000 and 10 sales per month... Don't pay much attention to it!

"SOME" advertisers still considering Alexa rank and I think it will not hurt you if you do consider it.. It is not very accurate though when it comes to ranking website I saw a website which receive 100K visitors per day and it is in funny pictures niche but the Alexa Rank is just 300K.

Alexa is a Traffic Ranking, but for "ME", I consider it as value of website ranking.

When it comes to traffic estimation then Alexa comes first in mind.. it is useful when you are going to sell website, you are going to build links, guest post, you are going to buy ads on other blogs etc.

Alexa is not accurate. According from other alexa is no use .

As most of us not much cares about Alexa but still if your want more accurate results you should install Alexa tracking script in your webpages the same way you do for GA. Then it will no more depends upon the toolbar users but count for every visitor.

 

Alexa calculated sites rank regarding howmany visitors are coming to your site. From that it calculate your ranking and it updated by daily basis.
