Which is precisely why as a structural tag SECTION is redundant to numbered headings and horizontal rules -- just another of the pointless idiotic redundancies HTML 5 introduces that seems carefully crafted to undo all the progress of HTML 4 Strict!

Since if you are using numbered headings properly and horizontal rules properly, the ONLY reason to add extra containers is to apply style, not meaning! As such there is no legitimate usage case to use SECTION instead of DIV.

Since again, redundant semantics is as bad as none at all.

No shit Sherlock...isn't that the same as what Rakshith Daniel said?....little tip for you, when someones already explained something, there's no need for you or the other spamtards to repeat it over and over again just to inflate your post count.

That seems to be "creativewebmaster's" bread and butter for posts -- a true pointless-poster-magnet, I've hit 'report' so many times due to the question "Is this even a legitimate user, or just a spambot?" one begins to wonder if these forums even have moderation anymore.

Div is used for non Html5. Section is a html5 replacement for div. However you can still use that tag.

No, this set the discussion backward. Rakshith Daniel explained the difference. Section is not a "replacement" for div, although in practice of course, it will be used on some occasions where a div would have been deployed before section existed. But to reinforce Rakshith's point: div has no semantic meaning, while section does.

Seems like whenever they add tags people start running their mouths about them being 'replacements' - if they were replacements that would make them REDUNDANT. See the whole B, I, EM and STRONG thing -- where they all have different meanings so all four exist for a REASON. <em>Just because you are showing something in Italic, <strong>does NOT mean you are giving it emphasis!</strong>

I'm with Malky66 -- what the *** is with the one sentence re-re posts by people who quite obviously never read more than the post title? PARTICULARLY the ones by people who even more obviously don't know enough about the topic at hand to even be opening their bloody yaps?

Again though, SECTION is redundant pointless bloat -- since it replicates what numbered headings and horizontal rules are supposed to do. When you already have tags providing meaning, wrapping more meaning around it is pointless crap.
