The question is... does it really work and is it effective. I only know one person that it has worked for and that is Matthew Woodward.

Yes, forum posting and blog commenting would work for increasing traffic to your website, but you have to contribute to these places.

Of course he is making a living off of us, but he provides value that we can benefit from.
Does not Microsoft benefit from selling you Windows?

There is no benefit from giving that dude your money. I am vaguely sorry you feel otherwise. Unless you like being on lists.

If it has worked for some few people, there is no reason why you can't make it work for yourself. With the right strategies in place, you should find these strategies well effective enough.

It really not necessary that something which has worked for one will work for others as well. For example if you're a web celebrity, it is quite easy for you to link bait, but kind of impossible if you're not known even if you write so well.

What I'm trying to say is that if it has work for other people, there is no reason that a person who would have interest in making it work for himself, will find it impossible. The question of the poster was, does it really work? So if it worked for someone, the answer is yes. if you have the right mindset and do your best to figure out how it works, it's not impossible for you to do it as well. But it doesn't mean that it will work automatically for everyone.

well, it depends on in which sites you're posting, try to do guest posting that gets lot of traffic to that site..

in case of forum marketing, you should be doing regularly and should provide value to the forum so that you would earn respect from forum members and they would listen you whatever you ask them to do..

Correct. Playbook remains the same in more cases than not, executioners change which is why some projects succeed and others fail

I must be quite stubborn for not using forum to drive traffic into my sites.
I only use this forum for chatting, getting new friends and learn new things. Using forum to drive traffic is not that bad (if used professionally). However, I notice most spam comments were coming from people whom only willing to drive traffic as fast as possible to their sites.
I always rely on search engine to get traffic. I imagine it would be really hard to contribute and enjoy this forum if I only use it to drive traffic.
For OP: I think Forum could be good place to drive traffic. However, I don't really like any posts/threads which were created to only drive traffic (I consider this thread as quite useful for everyone). I do apology if anyone disagree with me but that is what I think at the moment.
