I am running a blog, i applied for Adsense. Google replied that my blog got some copyrighted images . My website is on football so i can not get all the pictures by myself LOL... Can i use the Getty images used on espn or soccerlens or some big football websites. Those pictures got no watermarks or something.

Any further advice on how shall i use the names of the images to avoid copyright law? Any tricks?

    You either have to:
    1. Take the images with yourself
    2. Buy them
    3. Get permission of the copyright holder

And that method will probably just get you copies of copyrighted photos and you may not know until Getty Images etc start threatening legal action.

I use EditPad Lite to view the image as a text file. If you see stuff that looks like this then you can't use it without paying.

First you search image from google. Download your image without copyright logo or watermark. It means you download a picture that has no copyright logo or watermark image. After download few edit this picture in photoshop. Such as crop, increase or decrease brightness and contest etc. And then you post this image in your blog.

You need to be careful. If you google free stock images, you should find some websites which offer a library of content which is royalty free. You can then browse within each library knowing that whatever you find you can use.

What a load of nonsense and bullshit. That is illegal! Just because a image does not have a copyright logo or watermark does NOT mean that it is not copyrighted. You need to go and read up on copyright law or talk to a copyright lawyer! People like you should be in jail for theft and for encouraging other to do the same.

Accordingly to the copyright law, Using an image that is not taken by you and has the copyright seal is theft.
There are many stock free images out there, all you have to do is find the websites that offer these services.

    For Example: http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

Be very careful. Anyone can set up a site that claims the images are free - even if those images have been stolen. By the time you get challenged over the use of the photos the website will be long gone. Even if they still exist they'll have some fine print somewhere saying that you hold the responsibility to double check.

    Lets be realistic.
If you a small time company, nobody realy gives a damn.
Only if you decide to open a franchise or go global does all this nitty gritty come into effect.

Everyone uses google images, so lets sue the world.
    No.

Its because the big companies don't worry about the small fries,
    they worry about their competitors.

I beg to differ. Our site promotes a business idea that failed to get off the ground but the website remains. It was only ever a part time initiative for my husband. The site has practically no content and the images were "acquired" from free image sites. Getty still sent their lawyers.

Hell no, it's not online sales for a start off and is extremely low traffic.

No, from free stock image sites, we were able to prove where we'd got them from and negotiated the penalties down to the value of the images if we'd bought them from Getty in the first place.

My point is, though, that you don't have to be big, important, successful. The site has practically no inbound links. There is no reason for it to draw attention. I'm guessing that Getty have bots that index the webs looking for a match to any of their images. With that kind of indiscriminate checking anyone can get caught.

Well that certainly has proven my theory wrong.
However been said, there are many websites out there using images that they have not paid for or downloaded illeagally.
And its sad that the harmless people get targeted.

    Who are the harmless people?

Don't the photographers deserve to get paid?

I suspect that there are certain countries where the legal might of Getty et al generates less fear :)
