Hostgator sucks - why are you using their service?

Ive never had any problems with hostgator.

 

We use hostgator but their support is terrible. They answer very late.
Lots of the staff members don't know anything.

If you want to be a big and successful website, simply don't use their service.

 

I never had too many problems with HostGator myself, but I still don't really get why people sign up with them. They're large enough that you're really just another number to them. Smaller companies tend to offer a better experience.

Since being with HostGator, I've bounced between thiswebhost.com for shared hosting, cleverkite.com for cloud hosting, and digitalocean.com once I wanted to learn more about server administration (they have great documentation in that regard).

There's definitely better options out there.

 

My site is down for 12 hours, they didn't solve the issue yet. I pay 150$ monthly, but they sucks.

 

I have been using Hostgator for few months now and so far I am totally satisfied with their support team and services. The server response time is better than any other hosting I have used. But the experience does depend on which server you are in. So far I have no complain.

 

i left from HG since 2 years ago, they have a good customer support, but their server are really bad, slow access, etc.
i think it because they have a big number of customer that use their server, and it make the servers slow, but i dont know what really happens there.

 

I use them for some smaller sites and they are just fine. I did not like them for a couple of large adult sites. I ended up selling one of the adult sites and now host the others somewhere else.

HG was good before being sold to EIG which owns a bunch of other big hosts.

I've never had problems with their for past 3 years.

 

I have been using hostgator for 3 years with only around 1 hour of down time(scheduled), saying that their service sucks is complete and UTTERLY BULLSHIT.

 

Go to an actual web hosting forum, and you'll see that you are in the minority. WHT has seen nothing but complaints since EIG bought out HG, and it's only getting worse.

I can guarantee you that you had more than an hour downtime just in the latest move from Softlayer to the EIG datacenter in Provo, UT. All their servers were down much longer than that. If you didn't see any downtime associated with the move, you're either completely lying, or you need to look into a new monitoring service.

You forgot a word. The same old TRUE EIG complaint.

How's that hour downtime treating you? Some servers were down for 3 days or more with the move. Like I said...either lying or it's time for a new monitoring service. I'm guessing it's the first.

 

Plus, you are conveniently leaving out the fact that HG LIED TO THEIR CLIENTS with the datacenter move. The first excuse was that they tried blaming the outages on a DDoS attack, which according to staff on the inside never really happened. Then they said the outage was due to a router/switch issue (a company that big has no redundant routers/switches? I know they had them went Brent owned HG). Then they said the network was being upgraded, which is a huge lie.

They never told the clients that the servers (including dedicated servers, mind you, where people went with HG for that specific location) were being moved halfway across the country, to the EIG datacenter. Softlayer to the EIG datacenter was a HUGE downgrade as far as the network is concerned, and according to a bunch of clients, the server equipment itself is now far lower-powered than it was with SL.

Yet the fanboys keep yelling at the top of their lungs how great HG is. It WAS indeed one of the greatest companies in the industry. The marketing and hard work Brent put into the company paid off big time...in the form of 1/4 billion dollars, in fact. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case, just like every single other host EIG purchased.

 

I've been using hostgator for years now and am extremely happy with them. Their customer service is exceptional. The uptime on for my websites is exceptional. I've only had my sites down twice that I know of. One of those times I was told before hand so I knew to expect it and the times that they were down was very little. I've used their reseller hosting also was happy with it, although I'm not using it at the moment. As for coupon codes, I never use coupon codes when it comes to hosting or advertising so.
