If I want to do a news site ...Among these three...

    1)Drupal
    2)Joomla
    3)Wordpress (modded like CMS)

    Which might be best?

I would recommend Joomla for easy configuration and lots of scripts compatible with it.
If you have the budget, phpcow.com is a great script with lots of features.

All those CMS are really good so what i suggest is that you try then all to see which you like best. The one I would recommend is joomla because it is very active and has many mods.

PHPcow looks amazing but for that price I think its rip-off. They want $300 for the standard addition

there is a free script called "sNews"

i like it actually but it doesn't have a comment system

it's done exactly as a news box into your site
