For established websites, I have heard mixed opinions about buying "themes" instead of having your own developed. Some say it hurts your SEO and content, other say its a great thing to do as long as your content remains strong. The reason I ask is because I am currently considering redesigning 1 of my sites, (rather established) , and ThemeForest has some great themes I like, for alot less than designers are charging. How do you guys feel about , "Themed" sites as opposed to custom layout structures?
I haven't used Theme Forest personally, but I've heard lots of great reviews about them. I know a few people personally that use them, and they love them.
I bought a lot op products on envato. I really recommend them. I bought a new theme this week from them. I am very happy with it, and the customer support of the authors there is awesome too.
I generally find the themes over the top with a reliant of glossy photo images required in order to make them look good.
using theme forest you can buy good themes ..but remember your theme not unique one .. they selling same theme to many people
There are some great themes on themeforest. Ignore the "hurts SEO" rubbish, SEO is about content, your titles and text. Jut use the yoast WP plugin to stop potential issues with archives etc and you will be fine with ANY wordpress template.
they are good. actually they are resellers. buying theme from various agents/firm they selling at one market place.so i think it's good to use and price also much cheaper than the original.
Themeforest has some of the best themes out there. I use them for my clients websites as well as my personal websites. Have not seen any effect negatively in my rankings.
They have great looking themes and I used to think I liked them. However, I've used them for some of my sites and will NEVER use them again. Their themes are a nightmare with it comes to updates and things getting messed up. Not recommended!
From what I know, the theme does not determine the ranking that your site will have as long as you have a good SEO strategy optimization in place. Focus more on your content optimization and traffic generation. I think It shouldn't be a problem to use a theme that is purchased!
It depend on your site needs. Buying commercial theme is commonly worst a lot of functions. I prefer to custom my theme to adjust with the needs.
I've used HTML templates from Themeforest and they work quite nicely, as long as you fill in your own content and images, maybe tweak the colors and such, I see nothing wrong with using templates.
ThemeForest is fast and provides a ton of Themes. The only time it can hurt your SEO like you mentioned if you redesign a existing website, and do it the wrong way. But i think you could ask that better in the Web Dev. forums on DP
