Hi I'm a new member and apparently I already broke the rules but I'm not sure how and I was hoping to know more so that it does not happen again. I did 4 posts on "Advertising" asking more info and they got removed as "Inappropriate / Disallowed Post". I don't exactly know which rule I broke. Anyone can help out? Thanks in advance.
Sounds to me that your messages should be sent in a PM as they add no value to the thread, as the rules state:
I received one of them today for a post made in november, this is just ridiculous, mods either you do your job in appropriate manner or just leave aside that you a far from perfect too. Like on august 4th a warning because post created in wrong forum (in general instead of music) DP, you fancy getting better traffic (as per own word) well, instead of throwing warning from people in european countries, make your job on all those crap posts created daily as I can't count from poeple you don't want to see anymore. As far as I am concerned I am done with this place, only crap can be found.
What *may* have happened is that your stuff was just recently reported, and that is why you got the warning now.
You're right, there seems to be even more of an influx of crap posts and pointless retarded idiots lately, there's hardly any threads worth reading or participating in and all i seem to do here is report spam, more spam and duplicate accounts.
Same with me. I feel it is really hard to write in Digital Point anymore. Here are several reasons which I could think (This is my own reasons - other may have different reasons): I'm more focused in Business. Since I got involved in Buying sites/domain, I was thinking: "Business first, helping other later on". I must be changed into 'selfish member'. I have to change my mind. Immediately before it is too late. Two many duplicates. Lately I see lots of duplicate accounts in this forum. The duplicate I'm talking about is from My country-mate and not the other countries. I imagine, If duplicate from one country is too many, how about duplicate accounts from all countries? Types of questions. Many questions basically didn't deserve to get answer. Interactions. In this huge forum, I feel lonely. Anyone feel the same? Maybe I just need to take a break and comeback after I get lots of spirits to write again in this forum. Funny and entertaining threads. I didn't see any entertaining (both serious/jokes) thread since August. Anyone willing to create one of it? Situation in real life. Real life surely affect my interest in DP. One question which always bugging me: Am I getting bored already? Maybe I just getting tired. @malky66 was right. Your post may flagged into 'not too useful posts'. However, I would give you simple solutions to overcome the problem. Ask more info by using PM (Private/personal Message - It was labelled as 'Conversation' in this forum). If you really have to write it in sales thread, make sure to write using: - Proper words and sentences. Don't use bold or italic too much. Use fonts, color and any elements appropriately. - Don't just ask the seller about 'More Info'? If you really want to ask seller about it, clearly explain why you need it and why seller should list it. example: "I'm interested with the offer but I didn't see the hosting specs. I believe you should list it here so other would find it useful. If it possible, I would like to buy this specs (post your wish here ...), is it available?" The idea is to make your post useful for anyone and not only for you and seller. I didn't recommend this. Just use PM or looks below for more better solution. If you were asking us why you got warning, here are few reasons for you: Read the second in this thread. Malky already told you the reason. Basically every posts in sales thread is only for anyone that willing to buy the stuffs/services. your question is just like 'interested with the offer' and has nothing to do with buying stuffs/services. While it looks weird, you will began to understand about the rules if you decide to be seller. Imagine there would be lots of posts stating aabout anything that have nothing to do with 'buying the stuffs/services'. Please understand, BST/Buy, Sell/Trade is not for conversation type forum. It is purely for 'business'. It mean, when you need to ask about any sales thread, it is better use PM. You can also post your own stuffs/Offer in BST and label it as (Buying) so seller will give you an offer. This way, you will get more competitive prices and didn't get warning for 'creating less useful posts' in seller threads. Your post could be considered as 'Bumping' thread. As what Malky already suggested above, it is wise to send that question through PM because your question has nothing to do with buying stuffs. Point three here seems not related with your problem. It would be very easy to help you if you did this step: Open your email. Everyone whom receive warning will get the notification through email. Copy and paste the reason in this forum. By doing this, you will know what post award you with warning and what kind of rule which you already broke. I believe Other members in this forum may explain it to you clearly what the meaning of that rule and the relation of if with your post that result in warning. A final note (As always): "A warning is just warning. Don't be afraid/frustrated just to get it. The important thing is not to receive it again. I do got two warnings (already expired) and have no plan to increase it again. "
There has been a lot of that as of late. I have noticed that there are 2 or 3 members who are addicted to bumping up threads that are many years old. (especially on General Chat) It makes the site seem less than current and really takes away from the integrity of the site as a whole. I've tried reporting one member who does this on a daily basis, but to no avail.
Someone whom really love to bump old threads? I didn't know if there are members whom really love to bump old threads, especially in 'general chat'. If it was new member, then it is acceptable as he/she may find the thread interesting. But if the members are consistently bumping old threads, especially in 'general chat', then he/she should find another 'interesting activities' rather than reviving 'not very useful' threads. About reporting, Maybe it just need few members to report it. Other maybe just like me, didn't realize if there is one or more members whom really love to bump old threads in daily basis.
Many thanks for all the users that replied. I think I understand the reason of the warning. In fact, my posts did not add any value to the thread and were only asking if the oportunty still existed or if I could get more info. Fully understood. Thanks to all in advance.
That member has now thankfully been banned. He was getting ridiculous and bringing up old threads everyday, and was starting to do it on many different forums. What bothered me is that he would bring up these years old threads, with 1 line useless posts.
Maybe he/she is trying to leave links. I think the member was banned because of: Spamming. Some people decide to comment on very old threads because that threads is useful for his/her sites. Increase post count. Not all short post is bad but I have feeling if 1 line post created by this member surely bring no value at all. Degrading the performance of Digital point (and other forums as well). By dropping not valuable posts, SE will consider the threads not that relevant again for specified topic. I'm glad the user was banned. If I know the pattern to bump old threads, I would gladly help you report it to mods. I do really curious why the member really love to bump old threads in many forums. maybe 'bumping' is his/her hobby. I'm glad you already get the answer for your question. Getting a warning is not big problem. Just smile and if it is possible, avoid getting another warning.
That thread got bumped and the entire thread was then reviewed. There's no "statute of limitations" to make "bad" old posts suddenly "good". The mods all have their own way of working. Normally I'd just delete the old posts and focus on the new but sometimes you don't realise the age of the thread. It's only one warning, it'll probably expire long before you come close to a ban.
And that is why I prefer to only make 'less but useful posts'. Less post is better as long as it: Make me smile. I'll make a post if it make me smile after reading it. Give value to this forum, and May help others. I have received a warning in the past (which is already expired) for creating short and less useful post. I was not happy to receive the warning but it didn't make me sad either. Since then, I learn to only make post which fall into three categories above. At first I make 'somewhat useful post' just to avoid getting another warning but then I realize if my habit already become a hobby.
I have seen too many of the old threads as well. I have accidentally commented on them not realizing they were very old. Should we report those? Or just let them be?
Report them if the user doing the bump isn't adding anything of value. Sometimes they are valid updates, or genuine mistakes from someone who has done a search and not seen the dates either, but mostly they're just people running up their post count so that they look more involved than they really are.
