Warning: Chitika bans for High Quality Traffic in expensive niches

I'd like to tell fellow warrior members to be careful with the Ad Network Chitika. If you are getting organic traffic (Search Engine Traffic) for high paying niches like Insurance, Finance, Automobile, TVs, Phones and etc. you may end up banned.

    My story
I own an auto insurance blog that gets pretty decent traffic from US Google. On my look for an Adsense alternative I found out Chitika and decided to give it a try. You may ask why look for an Adsense alternative. Well we all know Adsense can be a little moody and ban randomly people and what I am looking for is a stable income and opportunity to expand & grow my business.

I signed up with Chitika, placed regular banner ads but also included their latest additions - Linx & Hover apps. CPC for the car insurance niche was cr@p at start. Ranging from $0.03 - $0.06 CPC I was very close to giving their up. I decided to give a last attempt and apply for Gold Ads. Gold Ads are meant to give you access to more high quality, high paying Advertisers.

Here comes the funny part! My site does get approved both my Chitika and by the Premium Advertisers. So both Chitika & the Advertisers agree that my site and the traffic/visitors it gets are of high quality. Passing the approval for Gold Ads also means my site complies with their Terms & Conditions.

Once Gold Ads start showing up on my sites the CPC massively increases. I am talking about prices of $2 - $2.40 CPC. This ran for a few days until today when I get an automatically generated email from Chitika:
I am NOT doing any of the things mentioned in this email nor I am breaking their T&C. As this email tells me nothing basically I tried to contact support. After my first email I get some kind of clarification:
I continue to try and resolve this issue with Chitika but I think there is little hope. I sent Google Analytics Screenshots and Data to show them my traffic stats but that doesn't seem to help or change their decision even slightly.

The thing is that Chitika may be great if you are a low earner. Once you get into big money they start acting as Adsense- banning people without a clear reason.

I just started using them , but i after reading your posts i am considering a move but i am not sure where to go. Anyhow I will stay with them a while longer to see how they will do. I think it might be very common to most of the companies to ban people who make a lot of money or at least its written so online on various forums and sites. You should try and contact them daily to see if you can fix your problems and get your earnings back.

Affiliate offers that are specifically targeted to your audience is a good idea. It is best to go for offers that pay out when a user signs up for free (rather then affiliates that payout only if a transaction has taken place).
As far as advertising and PPC goes, I have tried so many that its not funny. I am now at the point where I have decided to get out of sites that are funded soley on ads alone and focus on sites that can earn directly themselves.

I agree that they should be banning Publishers if there is any kind of bot clicks, fraud clicks and etc. But the reason they gave me for my ban is absurd.

How I see it is that they didn't want to pay out at the end of September (yeah August winnings get paid at end of September) as the sum would have been quite big. Adsense #2

Interesting topic, as much as ad networks always have the upper hand, it's hard to understand why your are being banned. But the clear picture is that two high profile advertising networks just banned you. So there must be something you are overlooking that is happening on your site.

I would continue pestering Chitika to find out what it is. Don't give up, just continue emailing them every day.

I would in your case go for BuySellAds or Infolinks

I have not been banned by Adsense. I even haven't tried it as first I don't like their payment method and second I am looking for a stable income and Adsense is far from stable.

I tried pushing out more info out of Chitika but they refuse to communicate. I called phone support, send them Data Reports from Google Analytics and nothing happened.

Currently trying Infolinks (not earning a lot really which is strange) and waiting to be approved for BuySellAds.

So you tried chitika without trying adsense...definitely barking at wrong tree. You have created a Gold. Use it wisely, adsense can get your great income (considering the auto insurance niche).

Not certain why your account was banned on chitika but i think adsense is more stable..

I also have same problem. Chitika deactivate my account just like what OP said, AND my website gold medal, AND i do have adsense with the website, and still getting paid nicely every month, Now my website earning half from what I;m getting normally.

If they claim im having high click traffic, I doubt that, because few day before it deactivate, My avg click still remain the same, but the CPC boost higher, and give me like 3x current daily earning. I do report to them about it but it seem they wont activate my gold account back. Thus I guess we need to stick pretty low earner and aim for many websites, instead of 1 website only.

P.S: my website is Niche for HPK keyword. everything is unique (content was written manually, seo everything). SO i guess staying with only HPK keyword will put your account in jeopardy.

Chitika is not a good PPC ad network. I received an e-mail from them saying that I was allegedly spamming and and getting traffic to my ads from porno sites and allegedly engaged in invalid click schemes, something I've never done on any ad network. Someone became jealous of me and messed up my relationship with them and they got my account banned. it's not like someone can't take your publisher ID and fraudulently put it on a site that will mess up your relationship with any network, because they can. I never spammed or fraudulently did anything like that on any network. When Chitika e-mailed me with the account deactivation notice, they said do not reply to the message and work on willing to hear my side of the story. Companies like that that don't want to listen to their publishers that have possibly been set up and wrongfully done by others may end up losing out on profits in the long run. It's best to stay humble, move on and find another ad network. However, though they are unwilling to listen to your side of the story is a publisher in wondering what happened to your account, don't be disrespectful to them but yet move on and smile. That's where true character is built. :)

leave Chitika alone. it's best to humble yourself and move on if they're not willing to listen to you.

A company who has good reputation and pays almost everyone and just bans some account then its most likely webmaster has problem with traffic and some time webmaster don't agree with that and that does not make companies like chitika a scam

I would suggest you move on to another company

I think they have to inform you about their discoveries, send you notice, ask to specify your traffic sources etc. As I understand nothing was done. It's strange.
